I really hope Ed is ok.

Has anybody had any kind of contact with him at all?

I was fond of Ed when he was here on TB, but never joined BT247. I registered last night just to see if I could contact Ed, and was able to sign up and send a PM. He replied, then this morning the conversation was locked, and a little later the site was offline. He seemed ok, but the conversation was short.

I'm definitely with you on this Jay, it was getting pretty cool over there, well moderated, yet free spirited. I will miss it too.
But, most of us are still here, still together, and still friends. Let's all take a lesson from what transpired, and vow to continue to treat other members with respect. We do that, and Talk Bass will be better than it's ever been.

Moderation may be heavy here, but that keeps this place reputable and a good place to be.

Thanks to the mods and staff out there for keeping this place cool.

Actually, I was just joking. I doubt I had one thing to do with any demise; as far as I know, they had long since moved on. I was just a little taken aback by photoshops of certain posters holding my severed head. Like THAT would ever happen! I've got people here in real life that want to take my head, and they ain't getting it!

Near as I can tell, I was out of bounds for complaining about a couple people calling my band "mediocre," and all of a sudden, there was an overall feeling that I brag too much, and have "a bunch of sycophants who hang on my every word." I wear fringe, have long hair, and think I'm all that. Some of those guys took some pretty mean-spirited and personal shots at me, and believed I had a LOT more animosity towards them than I did, but it has long since been water under the bridge, as far as I'm concerned.

I readily admit that I can be a bit of an ass, and one thing to consider on this bass forum is that my primary job in bands has been LEAD SINGER, so it's not like I've never been too full of myself, or anything. That said, I am a pretty nice guy, and have my bouts with humility too. I've taken a lot of abuse in my lifetime, and don't really plan on taking too much more. I'm opinionated, and have a sense of humor some find hard to understand or tolerate.

I wish all of those guys the best, especially Ed. I'm not out to see anyone suffer, that's for sure.

Oh boy. "Boy" being the operative word there. Thanks for sharing. That's pretty much what I sensed was happening from what I saw going on in public. That's a shame and was very much unnecessary and avoidable, from what I can tell. That's too bad and pretty sad. Ruined what was otherwise a very cool place. I saw some of the backroom drama when I served as a mod there for the first year, but I did my best to put out the fires when I saw them and otherwise steered clear of it. When I spend time at an online forum I'm just looking for the F word. "Fun" that is. Lol. Oh well. Up the rebels!

Bewbs for sure. Our mod tools were switched off for most of the time, so we couldn't intervene.

I've got no problem with the occasional swearing and bewbs. Makes life more fun. Unfortunately a couple bad apples spoil the apple cart, as so often happens.

What I wrote in my summary is exactly what happened. Nothing added, nothing embellished, nothing invented.

Ed, unfortunately, in another fit today, decided to delete the DB for the site and, from what I have seen, regretted it soon afterward. The place is gone and the content will not be recoverable. I hold absolutely no ill feelings toward Ed. I am pretty bitter about what he did in the end and the crazy baseless accusations he threw at people. Unless you were in the breeder thread and the "closing shop" thread, the only places he posted in the last couple of hours of the site's existence, you will not know how much everyone tried to talk him down until he basically alienated and insulted everyone who was trying to save him and his site.

The mods that remained in the end did a fantastic job and had to contend with some pretty petty conflicts. The "interlopers and hypocrites" explanation targeted at "new members" is silly at best. What happened is not funny, unlike what some people seem to think. We witnessed the complete breakdown of an individual. Not just a simple rage quit.
