What I wrote in my summary is exactly what happened. Nothing added, nothing embellished, nothing invented.

Ed, unfortunately, in another fit today, decided to delete the DB for the site and, from what I have seen, regretted it soon afterward. The place is gone and the content will not be recoverable. I hold absolutely no ill feelings toward Ed. I am pretty bitter about what he did in the end and the crazy baseless accusations he threw at people. Unless you were in the breeder thread and the "closing shop" thread, the only places he posted in the last couple of hours of the site's existence, you will not know how much everyone tried to talk him down until he basically alienated and insulted everyone who was trying to save him and his site.

The mods that remained in the end did a fantastic job and had to contend with some pretty petty conflicts. The "interlopers and hypocrites" explanation targeted at "new members" is silly at best. What happened is not funny, unlike what some people seem to think. We witnessed the complete breakdown of an individual. Not just a simple rage quit.
For the love of Pete, it's an internet forum - you know, ones and zeros. Didn't any of the people on there have lives?

It was a difficult read. Why do you suppose Ed would subject himself to this for so long? Did he take breaks from bt?

He repeatedly tried to take breaks, but apparently couldn't resist to keep lurking...

Ed tried to take breaks. He would even announce it. He'd comment in a thread and then just turn around and say "Ok, I'm gone until the end of the week" But, as @Jay2U said, he would just lurk and come back.

I had a long private exchange with Ed at Christmas time and he looked like he was in a better place. He was making personal, professional, and health related changes. It looked like he was going in the right direction and putting a bunch of stuff behind him. Then, the next day, there was a major trolling incident spurred on by the fratbois yet again. It's funny because they said they were not really trolling on BT, but on FBK, where they were coordinating it, they were referring to it as "the troll thread". I'm not going to name the usernames of those involved, because they are mostly all members here as well, but they were just acting like little kids yet again. You can't expect Ed to stay away and try to get to a better place when stuff like that is happening all the time.

You know, there were just childish impossible characters there. This anecdote really summarizes what kind of people we are talking about. In the effects forum at bt we started a Secret Santa thing for Christmas. We had a thread with the rules and where we would discuss GAS lists to try to make it easier on people. Anyway, this member that I will not name, who was a member here as well, kept trolling the Secret Santa thread and spamming it with pet adoption posts. He kept at it even after mods and other users told him it was enough. I even PM'd him and all I got back was ridiculous hateful replies. Anyway, he just stopped one day, just dropped off the map. Two weeks later people found out he had died.

So, this "adult" is at death's door. He's got serious medical issues. However, he spends his last days on earth trolling the a Secret Santa thread in the effects forum of a bass site. There was an outpouring of grief and condolences for the guy on here and at BT after his passing. I did not know the guy, but I will remember him simply as a troll, because that is who he was.

For most normal balanced people, this is just an internet forum. For some, it's wayyyy more than that unfortunately.

Im starting to think you really do believe you know everything.

PS: you dont. Your explanation of "what actually happened" is what happened from your own perspective and its hardly objective.

It's not only my perspective and you know it. It's the perspective of MANY people. How would you know, you can't even acknowledge stuff you posted even though it was posted for everyone to see. Give me a break.

It occurs to me that we're witnessing the breakdown of more than one individual here. Secret "boi's" clubs? Trolling a forum on deaths door?

Unplug, fellas. It's just the internet.

With all of the drama, when did they find time to play the bass?

I went over to BT when it first started but couldn't keep up with all the jibjab one liners and inside jokes. There was a lot of chatter about Mellow in the beginning. I stopped going to BT after a few of months since 95% if the content was in OT.

I always enjoyed reading Ed's posts on TB where he was one of the gang but on BT he had to change his role and I guess it took a toll on him personally.

Ed is a passionate guy and put a tremendous amount of effort into the BT project which should be commended regardless of the reasons it was created.

I sincerely wish him well and hope he refocuses his energies into his antique watch and motorcycle businesses.

Get better, Lurch.

Let's see if we can't get this thread closed before more of the same begins again.

When I read the various discussions about some of the wackiness going on there, I had the same thought. Guys getting all fired up on one forum to orchestrate a massive troll offensive on another forum... geez... get a life already... :help:

Lulz. You don't know the half of it. Those klowns are orchestrating 85% of the world's terrorist activity too. Oh it's a scene, man.
