BC Rich MEGATHREAD

Here's one for the books............89' B.C.RICH MOCKINGBIRD( Made in U.S.A.)....Check out the reversed headstock with Grover Machines. Do all B.C.RICHES come with Grovers ?.....unfortunately I haven't found another one like it and I've searched the net trying. It rested comfortably in it's hardshell case for years now. I do have info on it if anybody would like to know about it.
If you are looking for more info on it, go over to the Link Removed. There are some very serious BCR collectors over there and they are a great bunch of guys as well.

OO I like this thread, I've met waaaay to many BCRich haters out there. I currently own a Warlock Platinum but I'm going to get a NT Beast this summer. I got the Platinum when I was a bass noob(twas my 2nd guitar). I had a Dean playmate with no pickup selector (which is a pain!!). Then the christmas after i turned 13 my parents knew i was starting to get serious about my band (T3H GEEX, well as serious as my 13 year old self could be) and my dad being a 50-60s rock musician told me to pick out a bass i liked out of one of his magazines and i saw it and it was love @ 1st sight, i read some reviews and of course most peple who posted reviews were love/hate about it and i didnt know bout talkbass or anything so i got it and have had it since then and now im tired of it lol and i wanted a beast and i saw one and am now convinced that thats gonna be myt next guitar

You want a Beast bass, huh? Be careful, you'll put an eye out kid! :p j/k

Yea, you will find a select few but loyal following of BC Rich lovers here. If you would like to talk to some more, check the link I gave above. The guy that started it (Jeff) was the administrator for the actual BC Rich company forums. When they (meaning BCR) canned the forum he started the BC Rich Players forum.

heres a bc rich i havent seen on the thread yet-06 NJ Series (before they became a Special Edition) Virgo.

i really dig those virgo basses...really sweet...kinda reminds me of a more aggressive, jacked up steroids version of a 'staccato' bass...

just curious as to what you guys think...i've said that i'm thinking of having an ignitor bass built...what would you guys think the best headstock would be? i like the inline 4, reverse inline 4, but my fave is the widow...i also like the traditional rounded one, as well...the one similar to a zon headstock...

ive always been a big fan of the warlock II style reverse headstocks...still inline 4 just a little different.

too. been looking for a lefty or reverse neck for my warlock for a while now without any luck. In my opinion I think the Ignitor body would look best with either inline 4 reversed.
The Ignitor is also one of my favorite body styles ever.

Way back in the late '70's I went to Bernardo Rico and ordered a BC Rich Eagle, it was a maple neck through with Rosewood stringers and Maple wings. The FB was Rosewood as well as the headstock cap. The pickups were humbucking. It was a really beautiful and well made bass. I just never could warm up to it though. I didn't care for the tone or the feel. Not bashing BC Rich, just reporting the positives and the negatives of my BC Rich experience

Im a huge BC Rich fan and I will admit that Ive played one or two Riches (mostly cheaper ones though) that no matter how much eq'ing I do I just cant make them sound right. But then my Virgo is one of the best playing basses Ive ever owned and its sound is downright awesome. BC Rich tends to get a bad rap often and when all people play are bronze series instruments I can understand why. But if you spend some money and get a high quality BC Rich you will be amazed at the quality, sound, and craftsmenship. Regardless I absolutely LOVE BC Riches. Even the horrible ones.

sweet, i really dig that! the ignitor is my fave too, with warlock and widow following pretty closely...the new virgo is really sweet, too...man, i really like that reverse headstock on that warlock...nice...thanks for the post, bro!

I agree. Ive always associated the R logo with there, for a lack of a better way of putting it, less metal instruments. I mean like the Eagle, and the Bich, and the Bernardo basses, Assassins, Outlaws s tuff that arent quite as radical. And I cant talk up the new Virgo enough, next up is a Zombie bass which is going to cost a little more but should be pretty much the same quality since its basically the same instrument except for the body and headstock.

heya, I'm a bc rich fan from way back and I've found a good deal online on a warlock platinum 2006 model (with the active eq). Is this a pretty good bass, in say comparison to ESP F series, or ibanez? and what's the deal with neck weight? I used to own a epi thunderbird and found the neck on that slightly annoying to deal with esp on harmonic's, is this a similar issue? any help here would be great. :bassist:

just as an update, I've also found an eagle bass, the bolt on model but with active and red flame top,not sure what year. I'm not to up on the play with this model, I assume the pups are pretty much the same as the warlock I am also looking at but the neck heaviness wouldn't be as big a problem I asume due to the slightly trad looking shape. anyone have any info on these basses?

I had a similar bass and in my opinion compared to the F series it is slightly better. Platinum is the run of the mill decent instrument line of BC Rich. If its a good deal (anything under 500) id jump on it. You wont be disappointed. As far as the neck dive with the stock strap button location as soon as you let go it will hit the floor. Yep. Fun right. But if you do some strap button relocation and use a nice quality leather strap this problem is all but eliminated. Id go for either one, they are both excellent basses and they should be similar in electronics so Id say its down to what shape (and headstock) you prefer. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

yeah I think I'llopt for the eagle, it's a NJ 5 string in trans red (why is it bc rich is the only company to get the red that correct 'blood' shade hehe) okay it's prob a little too traditional comparedto the other models but it doesn't suffer from headstock drop issues, I just hope the B has enough tension otherwise it'll be a bridge replacement pretty quickly. Well that's my decision I guess, until someone decides to offer me a beast or a zombie hehehe.. then I'll snatch either up faster than you can blink.

I never thought I would say this... but I'm having some serious GAS for a BC Rich Bass. :ninja:

Mockingbird Heritage Classic

..and when I searched (from here & elsewhere) I found out that I'm not alone. :)

I found a couple of reviews from the TB forums, and one from Harmony Central. The overall feel seems to be positive, except for the neckdive issue. And that it's made in China. (I have serious doubt against anything mass produced outside The US, Japan or Korea + the euro Spectors). Not much info or reviews about the bass anywhere else.

The reason I got GAS (besides the fact that I'm still breathing :D) is because I need a new bass. Don't have the time or the patience to swap tunings/setup between C - E constantly. The bass would be for faster Death Metal and I think the BC Rich would suit it just fine... just wondering if the neckdive would be less than an issue because I strap my bass pretty high?

I am so with you on the Heritage Mockingbird. What a beautiful looking instrument. I personally wouldnt let something as trivial (in my opinion) as neck dive stop you. Must I say though a simple strap button relocation and a thick leather strap and the neck dive problems are all but eliminated. Though I dont know how quick Id be about drilling new holes in my brand new Heritage Mockingbird. Right now im gasin' for either a Widow WMD

or a Zombie.
