Being Ignored By David at SGD Lutherie

Dave,
You told me that the pickups were done quite some time ago. I do not know what transpired with the preamp, but apparently it never got done.

The "Recently" date that we talked about this and agreed to leave out the pre and replace the cost of the pre with pickups was on January 12th,
It is 2 days short of 2 months, since then.

This will be the last benefit of the doubt you get from me. If I do not receive the pickups in a timely fashion, I will be opening a thread.

I am not here to "smear" you as a person, I am not here to badmouth your product (you do make excellent pickups, I know this personally),or take potshots.

I AM HERE TO GET WHAT I PAID FOR IN FULL ON 12/25/2009.

Jason, your delay was on a custom preamp that went through several redesigns. But we recently talked that and I'm making your pickups right now.

Yikes if your margins are so small that $205 will 'make or break' your business :hiding:

At times, yes. Think about how much money you get paid for the week at work. Now what happens if you don't get paid for a week? That's a problem for most people when it's time to pay rent and other bills. A lot of us live paycheck to paycheck, and when I worked as a graphic artist I made four times more than I'm making now.

Plus, parts are getting more expensive. Neodymium magnets have gone up quite a bit. The price of copper wire keeps going up. I try and keep my prices reasonable. But I'm not rolling in dough making pickups. I'm just trying to make a living while making a good product,

But that wasn't the point. He was being obnoxious about the whole thing. He comes on here and makes a lot of drama and puffs himself up. More people sent me PMs saying I was right that posted in that thread saying he was right.

Like in this case he sent me one PM saying:

Steve

That was on the 6th. I had downloaded all my messages to a text file and emptied a lot of the inbox so I didn't see it.

Either way he's been paid back in full now.

Count yourself lucky, champ....

I tried to get a refund in January, no dice.

Jason, yes, I had made your original set of pickups. I use different plastic cases now so I made you new pickups so they match. You also wanted some jazz pickups to make up for the preamp. You will get all that and some extra stuff.

Your order will be going out next week.

I'm not an unreasonable person. These things should have happened much sooner, but they are getting resolved now.

David,
Ok, this will be the last time that I stand down and hopefully they do get shipped next week, but like I said this is the last time, especially with resolution to someone that ordered a year after me. I warn you now, if the complete order is not shipped next week, you'll know about it with several forums that you visit, ok?

I'm reasonable, but reasonable is broken on this.

I think you've been plenty reasonable. If it were me, I'd have already taken action and been fighting to get my money back after a year of waiting! Best of luck to you man, hope everything works out.

Are you effing serious. The message "Just checking in to see if you can refund a little more?" is obnoxious to you?

Not at all. I'm talking about the thread he started last time. Go and read it.

But see how he came on here saying I'm ignoring him? Do you think me not seeing one message is ignoring someone? I would think if he sent me one every day for the past week and I didn't respond to any of them, that would be ignoring. Don't you? Do you think posting here is the proper way to handle things?

And as I said, I don't always check my messages here. I get a lot of them. But I do respond to emails promptly.

Cyrus, you've placed two orders with me. Did you get your pickups? Did you have problems?

These things are few and far between. I'd prefer it never happens, but it does.

On the other side of the coin, I have stuff happen like a customer who ordered one of my 2-band preamps, but wanted me to mount it on a control plate he sent. Not a problem, but it was also one of those RawTone plates, and he wanted me to use the pots on there to save him money. I couldn't do that, but I came up with a cool preamp for him. I even did a few things on it for free because the guy was complaining about not having any money. Never again! Now I had to wait for him to send the play after he ordered, and then order custom parts, and in the mean time he puts in a PayPal dispute. Even after he received his preamp, and told me he did, he neglected to tell PayPal, who refunded his $130. So he got a free preamp and I'm out the time and money spent.

That doesn't happen often either, and I'm happy to say most transactions go without an incident. But customer's are often problematic.

OK this whole thing has been resolved anyway.

People love to support smaller businesses, but it seems they often overlook the inherent limitations of the smaller enterprise they're choosing to do business with.

There's no need to pile on the guy if he's communicating with his customers and working to make things right, which he is, by the looks of it. Save the mob for Marc Serio.
