My last benavente fretless had quilted maple in satin finish and you could still see a lot of depth in the cats eye effect. High gloss just gets too fingerprinty

some people were not into the idea of the black stain so I'm loving all these comments =)

I wonder how it would have looked with a nice emerald green or teal ..... with that beautiful wood I'd think there are many choices.

yeah i've thought about other colors and I'm sure they would all look amazing. but there's just something so classy about the black against the natural middle piece

Dan, I would highly recommend pale moon or Wenge as fretboard options. i was previously a maple only guy but these both sound so frackin good!

I love ebony as a fingerboard. Wenge sounds great I just have nightmares from all the Wenge splinters I got working for Gibson. lol

I was thinking Ebony for the two builds. Same spec as my DCD7. Maybe a holly top?
