Mine was red too. I took the pickup out before I tossed the body and that was the start of my tinkering with basses. It was also the start of my looking through dumpsters for other peoples basses. (kidding)

They're comparable in tone, but the weight is the big reason. I think the Quattro is a little more robust on the bottom end. At 80 pounds, it actually weighs only 11 pounds more than the AE410. Both the Quattro and Heart-Rock are on the chopping block right now, but it makes me very sad.

At 69 lbs, your AE410 cab must be one of the new "non-neo" ones. Unless Jim's specs are incorrect.

First gig with the AE212 last night. S9 driving and took the Tobias Sig and (TB'er Gard's ex) Zon Sonus Special Fretless. I know, a lot of expensive gear, but the gig was at the Arizona Biltmore; so, I figured what the heck. Not a whole lot of a crowd (private party), but there was a bass player listening in and that cab just got rave rave reviews, especially for the fretless. This band does a bunch of soulful older stuff - Steely Dan etc.; and, I think this cab works extremely well for this format. Fantastic tone. I'll keep the NV610 for the rock gigs; but, this puppy will get the call when the tone really matters.

Nice gig by the sounds Bucephylus!! Congrats on the gear! You're driving the AE212 with a Shuttle 9.0 is that correct?? Coz I really like the AE212 with my Shuttle 6.0!!!
I STILL find that there's NO more PUNCHINESS than an NV cab-be it 610, 215 or412(not that I've tried the 412 - sadly). But the AE212 does a superb job & as I get older, I find it harder to roll out the NV215! DARN IT!

Yes, S9 = Shuttle 9.0. And, yes pretty much the same thing as the S6. I still have my S6, BTW. The 9 just has a little more heft and can go bigger a little; but like last night, I never got the output past about 9 o'clock. So, the 6 would have been equally great.

Nice to have both the NV and the AE212. I may not be looking for too many more cabs as time goes on. (famous last words) Oh, unless Jim comes out with some kind of smaller format 4 ohm box.....

I do have one beef about the AE212: it does not like to sit squarely on my Kart-a-Bag platform. Just some unfortunate arrangement of the bottom feet. Makes load in/out a bit funky.

+1 the gigs I do the S6 = Plenty of headroom, plenty of everything really as its EQ & boost/cut buttons give it a LOT of EQ capability.

The AE212 is ONE cab I don't mind schlepping. But I've a fold-up trolley-kart too & no MY AE212 doesn't 'sit' on it too well either :-) I'm in the preocess of getting rid of superfluous cabs..... So I'm real happy with what I got.
I gotta get rid of the HS410- an AE410 replaced it. & am considering losing the NV215 also- tho THAT'S a REALLY hard decision.
Well it's not a hard "DECISION"- frankly I DON'T want to!!! But the AE212, My Mesa WA Scout by itself, with my AE112 or WITH the AE212, & the AE410 + a 'modified' (I bypassed the X-over & tweeter) Mark Bass HR151STD 1x15" have all the bases covered!
But that NV215 is just SO SWEET. SO SWEET, so punchy, solid... ahhh -beats me! I dunno what to do.
I Like having the AE112 to put with the WA Scout sometimes.... = Keep
AE212 = Keep coz it's sounds great & is an E-Z lug.
WA Scout is DAMN good.
& I LOVE 15"s so .... so..... ummmm????
But the HS410 (really an SA410 -really a HS410) MUST go. THAT I DO know. :-)
