"I would agree. While the 2 x AE112 is a really nice rig, to my ear, it isn't in the same universe as the AE212. Not sure what Jim did... some sort of magic... I assume the drivers are the same, but something about the box tuning and crossover just makes the AE212 a whole 'nother thing... deeper than the 2 x AE112 but yet more meat and punch and a much more 'natural' upper mid response to my ear, and a LOT more maximum volume before compression.

Interesting, thank you... I suppose the power handling on the 212 would be a bit higher than a 2-cab setup.
Anyone tried the TecAmp Puma 1000 with the AE212 or AE112?
Wish the Shuttle 9.0 had an onboard compressor as the Puma has.

I think Ken Jung has put his [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]through the AE212.
I could be wrong, as my 2 AE 12" cabs are at home, but I think the power handling is equal. That is 1 x AE212 = 2 x AE112's.
Both lovely cabs IMO.
A quick trip to bergantino.com confirms this to be true (and comes as no surprise of course).

I recently gigged with the SVT-7Pro and the AE212, and I liked that pairing a lot. The PF500 sounds a good bit like the 7Pro, so I think that'd be a good bet, too. I will give it a try when I get a chance.
Don't know if anybody else has run a DB750 through an AE212, but that's a pretty happening combo. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if the DB750 wasn't so flipping heavy.
I've got an early 90's swr sm900 and wondering if you guys have any thoughts on running that thru a AE212, 410 or HT's? For the past 15yrs I've been playing thru the same hartke 410xl. These days I'm playing primarily rock/funk/reggae in small/medium size clubs and outdoors (nyc rooftops)- alot.
Always found my rig was flexible (and powerful enough) to get the sound I wanted, but recently i've wanted a bit more oompf in the low end, especially when outside. Perhaps also looking for a bit more warmth/vintage tone, but still can cut thru when necessary.

Great - thanks for that, interested in a good 2nd amp for my AE112 and AE212, especially with an onboard compressor as the PF 500 has.
Well I finally picked up another AE112 to complete an AE112 stack. I messed around with the AE112 stack compared with the AE212 today. I used some amps with a lot of inherent low end; the MB200, Mesa M6 and the GB Streamliner 900. I used my Skjold CS5, Mike Lull MV5, and Valenti 5 for test basses. The AE212 is definetely bigger and smoother sounding then the AE112 stack and as KJ and others have said would be good for those who don't like the typical upper mid presence of the AE112s and some other Neo cabs. I could see how someone might call the AE112 "boxy" sounding when compared directly with the AE212 without messing with any EQ on the amps, but with the AE410 being my go to cab for so long I really dig the upper mids on the AE112 stack and they really do take some EQ.
The two cabs are still in the same tone universe. With the Streamliner set flat the AE212 sounds to muddy down low to me so I actually cut the bass through that cab and boost the mids at 2.5k. Through the AE112 stack the streamliner sound really good to my ear when set flat or even a slight cut of the mids at 2.5k. I liked the Lull set flat best through the Streamliner/AE212 combo, but prefer the skjold and the valenti through the AE112 stack with the streamliner since the both have preamps with a little bass in them. For my tone goals and just the schelp factor I think I am going to stick with the AE112 stack. Don't have the AE410 at home to compare but KJ has already done some of that. Here are some pics.

I don't know how it compares to the 7 pro, but I tried a Porta Bass 800 at a rehearsal with the AE212 today, and liked it a whole lot. It may be my favourite amp with the AE212 to date.

Jim's tweets are very good; but, IMO, the way to use the tweet in the 212 is to start with it off and then lift it bit by bit until you get what you want. The 12's are just amazing by themselves in that box. The tweet is just icing on the cake. Kind of reminds me of the Sadowsky tone controls in that a little goes a long way. I think mine is set at about 9 o'clock; and that is even a little more than I want sometimes. Really great cab.

This is a clip of my band playing this past Saturday night. I love the form factor of the AE212; it's easy to carry and it fits under a trash bag in the event of rain at an outdoor show. The sound guy had a 421 so I just miked the cab, and it sounded great! I was playing my M9 through it and observed that the 212 seems to really come into its own at higher volumes. Typically we're playing smaller bars and clubs and I can't really open it up too much.
FWIW, I have the tweeter or both my AE410 and AE212 rolled down to about 9-10 o'clock.
