BTW, on the hardware mod, I am a complete idiot when it comes to hardware type modifications, and it was simple as could be. Once I unscrewed the case, it might have been five minutes.

I agree with you rmars, I had played my Roscoe Beck through and it sounded great right out of the box.

I tried it again after I did the mod, and I literally can't tell you the words that came out of my mouth because of board rules. Let's just say it sounded amazing.

Today, I played the B|Amp at all three of my calls. At the last one, a bass player came up after it was over, made me let him play through it. He couldn't believe how good it sounded (I was playing it through the Sadowsky 410, made by Jim B.) and the thing he mentioned about four times, "It's that light, and it is 700W into 4 ohms?"

YEP!

It's still kind of stunning that I get that kind of great tone, and then can throw it (carefully) into my bag and walk out the door with such a light schlep.

Mark from Bass Club Chicago reached out to me. My B|Amp was just delivered to him today.

I am really, really enjoying my B|Amp & HDN410 rig. Who says this is just a "clean" amp? The growl I get out of this combination when I throw my Darkglass B7k in the chain can cure most common ailments.

I love it!

By the way, I use a Mackie ProFX8 Case to carry mine around. Fits like a glove

Yeah it's clean but not stale, synthetic clean. My J Bass sounded VERY growly thru my friends B|Amp and even gets nasty with his F Bass with LaBella tapewounds. It just reproduces all the snap off those strings so quickly and powerfully. It's not tubie but the power and quickness let it do its own thing.

I did my mod over the weekend. And as kjones already said. It was SUPER easy to do. I had it done within 5 minutes. Jim sent really detailed instructions. And as has already been stated..>WOW....What a difference. Passive basses sound way more alive, open, musical etc. Thanks Jim for taking the time to get us a great product all the way around.

Ever since receiving my B/Amp there are a few things I've noticed... I prefer my basses passive now, previously I always played with active basses... I'm not constantly changing the EQ settings, something I found myself constantly doing with other amps while playing.. I pretty much just leave the settings the same at all times.... I'm controlling more of the sound/tone with my hands and getting better overall sound and tone and I feel I'm playing better also.. I think of my basses and amp as tools in a sense and the better the tool, the better the job... Kind of simplified, but it works for me...

I couldn't agree more. I was compensating for inadequacies of my old amps. With my B|Amp and HDN-410, I just play.

Yes, this is a VERY nice box. Seems to do everything I need.

I went down to Walgreens and bought a cheap thumb drive - SanDisc 16GB in Bergantino Green for $5.99. I downloaded three speaker profiles, two of which were not needed; but, I've got 3kb on a dedicated 16 GB drive (LOL). I installed my AE212 profile; and honestly, the difference seems kind of small with and without. The HPF helps a lot with that cab; but, the profile...I can't really hear it.

Anyhow, VERY versatile input. One of the things I really dig is that flat is flat. I have a Tobias which is pretty strongly voiced; and most amps struggle to not mess it up. All I have to do with this amp is set it flat and magic happens. I also have a passive J that tends to be a bit on the barky side. About 5 dB cut on the upper mids is strong medicine for that instrument. Yup, I like it!

Oh, it does seem to run a bit warm. Not frying eggs hot, but warmer than I am used to. Is that normal? Seems OK.

Yeah, it's warm but not hot. I generally run it with the volume around 10:30 and after a couple minutes of playing it's warm, and it stays pretty much exactly that temperature for the next 3-4 hours of playing. No cause at all for concern.

Hi guys!

I have a favor to ask! Could you compare the B|Amp tuner to your favorite pedal, clip or stand-alone tuner? I can't get the B|Amp tuner to accurately tune my basses. When it indicates "in-tune" (><), my basses are flat and not in tune string-to-string. Please let me know if you're experiencing the same thing.

BTW, I love this amp! I'm just trying to figure out whether mine has a defect.
