Bergantino B/Amp at NAMM

I'll refrain from posting anymore of these as it feels basically like self promotion, but I had to share this one as I feel my playing is much better this timeAnother demo of the B Amp, this time with absolutely no pedals or anything, just directly into the B Amp and taking the DI from it. Loving it!
Their bassist is one of my favorites.
Bergantino Audio Announces B|Amp firmware version 4.0 and Bluetooth Footswitch featuring:
• Additional Memory 3 location with Bluetooth pedal
• Engageable EFX loop (in or out) from footswitch
• Mute B|Amp and engage onboard chromatic tuner from footswitch
• New Distortion circuits (DIST 1 and DIST 2)
• Independent Q select for all 4 tone controls (Bass, LoMid, HiMid, Treble)

Having been part of the new distortions testing phase, I have to say I feel that they are now at a very very good level. In the last two updates I think they went from "OK" to "usable" and now to "really nice". I also think that the independent Q select, along with the wider frequency selection that was introduced in 3.20, gives as much EQ flexibility as anyone could ask for! Great to see the B|Amp still getting even better!

BTW, although I usually leave it more or less flat for my clean tone, I think it's worth trying more extreme EQ settings with the distortion, since it can change the character of the distortion to some degree...

Yes, I find that I like to add high mids and highs as well as cutting lower mids to the current distortions. With the adjustable Q's now and the semi-parametics, there's just such a blank canvas to create your tone.

I love the way Berg keeps adding more and more to the amp's offerings - this is a real game changer - you buy an amp and you keep getting a more robust offering - like getting a new, more useful amp every few months - what a way to add value and continue to evolve the offering with out alienating those "early adopters" who (in other builders' "examples") then have to buy again (ie D800 vs D800+) etc.

+1 I agree, and I think Jim has in a way redefined what we are all going to come to expect from instrument amplifier manufacturers going forward. Even with all this flexibility and upgrade options, IME/IMHO, the best thing about the B|Amp is that it just sounds so darned good right out of the box!

Aside from all these great updates, my main impressions remain based on the way the amp delivers flat out of the gig bag. I recall @Munjibunga previously posting that he "doubted he would ever need anything else;" though I also recall that statement including the newer HDN212. Still, that has been my experience as well. While I have other amps, particularly the Demeter gear, which remains impressive; the best aspect of the B|Amp for me is that it just sits right in the sweet spot right out of the bag on the gig. Perfection.
Back to this latest, ahem, "improvement;" the pedal looks VERY svelte. Will it stow in the new gig bag? I've migrated away from effects for some time now, mainly due to a personal preference for lack of clutter on the stage in front of me. But, this feature certainly creates solutions for that particular pet peeve of mine. More awesomeness!

Sweet! Love the fact that it now has independently selectable Q settings for each EQ filter! I received my pair of HDN210s about a week or so ago and I absolutely LOVE them!......But more on that later. This is really, really cool that the B|Amp footswitch is out, along with another preset channel, new distortions and the expanded eq! Jim somehow keeps finding new levels of perfection!
Ordered a foot pedal a couple days ago for my B Amp too, I'm excited to see how it works! From reading the email about it from Jim, my only wish is that it would have the capability to be externally powered via a plug or one of the several power supply's on the market (like my pedalboard's Voodoo Labs PP2+ or Noble preamp), mostly to streamline the extra stuff I take to shows. However, my guess is that the foot pedal will do just fine power-wise on its battery.
This type of pedal uses very little power. As the Berg site says..It will last 6-12 months on a battery. Which is probably accurate. Keep a spare CR2032 around in case you need it. They are super small and just keep on in your gig bag. Or, you tape it to the underside of the pedal and you know its always there.

- Lithium ion (CR2032) battery provides 6-12 months of use
- Second spare battery included in battery compartment
It will be like my batteries in my active basses. I change them once per year, and never need to worry about them running out. I'll probably change the pedal either quarterly and biannually and won't sweat it.

Thanks for the info! My wish for a power option is just due to my tendency to idiot-proof my gear from myself...no batteries + power supply input = even I can't screw it up (usually).
