My experience with very complex set of controls (not that a fully parametric module is very complex, but...) is that in a live setup it is difficult to deal with. Therefore, I prefer as simple as possible, as long as the amp has bass, mid and treble controls with well-thought central frequencies.
With guitar it might be a bit more difficult, but in one of our recent concerts with very high volume levels, our guitar player had a Mesa amp which has tons of knobs and switches on which created so many issues on the fly. I wish he played the gig with the Vox AC-30 of the house!
In short, anything complex, I stay away from for my live gigs. But being so much in love with the Bergie's, this is on top of the GAS list!
