Bergantino B/Amp at NAMM

Wow! I didn't realise it was that time in your area. Appreciate your help again Jim.
I'm using 3 different computers - all "pc's" a laptop. A home pc and a work pc.
My case was - a dedicated USB drive only used for the B|Amp.
- I had deleted every previous file from it. So that this time I was starting with a blank USB
drive
- when I clicked to download the file from the email it would show up both in my pc &/or the usb drive as NOT bampfw.hex 4.31c....etc etc but as "4.31C 'email address" then below that would show a bar with FILE TYPE and it would show as "Web page, complete"
with a drop down menu offering the option to show it as " html "
It wouldn't simply show as "bampfw.hex" etc etc
- when saved it was showing IN my usb drive as bampfw.hex but with the chrome Web insignia next to it.


So. ..Any ideas to help appreciated.

Also. .. gig report:-
Loved the new AUX controlled drives! I added them to all 3 of my sounds and either dialed them off or up. Wonderful! !!
Really adds a great amount of variation for my needs.
The band I was doing tonight was hard rock and I used Distortion 2 setting most of the night, a few songs had the drive setting... and I simply adjusted those in or out all night. Went from nothing to full on dirt. Great fun!
Anyway now it's 4am here, so now I gotta get some sleep.

Glad to hear it all worked out. Curious your thoughts on the new compression...when you wake up of course!;-)

I've been on a little journey of personal discovery for the past few years as far as my bass tone goes. A P-bass with flats was the first major realization for me (after having sworn off P basses in my 20's), and the NV-610T is another big part of my tone now, too. I've had the cab for a long time, but I used to switch between it and a pair of HT-112ER cabs without giving it much thought. Smaller gigs, I'd take the smaller cabs; bigger gigs I'd take the 610. But at some point I realized that I wasn't hearing myself as clearly with the pair of ported 112's as I was with the sealed 610. There's so much bottom with the ported cabs that I end up just sounding like a big, boomy mess when I get in a band situation. The sealed 610 cab tames the low end perfectly for my needs. YMMV.

And don't get me started on the B|Amp. LOL At this point, I can't imagine life without it.

My only other thought is that I still have a desire for a smaller cab solution, just for the smaller gigs where I show up with my 610 cab now and people look at me funny. :)

I'm giving the NV-115 another look, just so I have a smaller sealed cab solution for myself when needed. I owned one of those for a little while and loved it, and that was pre-B|Amp.

My favorites are the HG310, NV212T, then the HDN212, in that order. But I could easily enjoy playing a gig with any of them. Probably the HDN410 is the most underrated and less talked about, but that sucker puts out some serious db and to me sounds very good. There was a fellow who played in a band that opened up for the Doobie Brothers who got one from us a week or so before the gig, paired with a Bamp, and let me tell you, he made that pairing sound amazing. I was totally impressed with his sound.

When I first tried the NV115 I didn't appreciate it as much as several of Jim's other cabs. But after playing around with one and adjusting parameters I have grown to appreciate the sound a lot more. And with the Forte, it is just about perfect with only a slight eq adjustment.

It's been a couple years since I owned mine, but I remember loving the low end of the NV-115. I recall it as a soft/smooth bottom end, pillowy I think is the term I had in my mind. Which would be great for a lot of what I play (blues and old-school soul/R&B). I'm not sure it would be the best for my Allman Bros/Little Feat stuff, but that gig is invariably NV-610 worthy. So much loud everything in that band. :)

You might want to consider an NV212T, as your smaller option... The NV115 is nice, but ime, TWO NV115's seemed to be exponentially better (which obviously wouldn't keep you at a smaller than NV610 option...)

Try a pair of sealed 112's. :)

My bands run a big PA, but our stage volume is actually quite low. We let the PA do the heavy lifting. So a huge cab is definitely not needed.

I hadn't really considered a sealed cab like the NV212T before....but I definitely will. I guess I've been a ported cab guy my whole life, I play 5 and 6 strings and like feeling the low end on stage (although I don't like to get too "boomy" and muddy).

For those who have experience with both the HDN and NV 212's, how big of a difference will I see in the lows between the two? This isn't a situation where I can try before I buy, it's just not an option.

I have a NV115 that does not get enough use (I bought a CN12 because I need to get to most gigs in a Miata) and I feel guilty for not using it. I've thought of selling it but it is too nice to get rid of. I've thought of just leaving at my mates house for rehearsal but am hesitant to do so. I'm in a new band, 60's-70's electric folk rock sort of thing where I think it would be great but haven't tried it yet. (Because I drive a Miata, kind of circular reasoning here.)

My $0.019 is either the NV610 or the HDN212. Yeah, I know they are different. That NV610 is definitely my favorite all time bass cab. I don't have one any more, simply because my gigs went the way you have described; and I found the AE212 to dish up plenty of what I'm looking for. But, I'm still a J/Rounds player. If you were wholly committed to the P/flats thing, then, as Greg (@RocketMusic ) accurately stated, the smaller NV could be a good alternative. Meanwhile, that HDN212 seems to be Jim's fully optimized 212. Can't go very wrong there.
