Bergantino HS410

Oh man, I'd love to try one...

On a minor note, the area of a circle is computed (pi * r ^2)

So the surface area of a 4x10 = 4 * 5^2 *3.14 = 314 sq. in

And and 2x12s = 2 * 6^2 * 3.14 = 226 sq. in

In this case, your surface area estimates are roughly proportional to the actuals. But if you're talking 15's, it becomes more important to use the right method, e.g.

1x15 = 7.5^2 * 3.14 = 176 sq. in.

whereas a 2x10 is only 157 sq. in

But IME, surface area is only one small factor. The Ampeg 8x10 has a nice hefty presence, but almost no cut at all.

Sounds like that's NOT the case with the HS410 though... :hyper:

86 lbs. though ... :hmm:

Good point. Hah, forgot my math laws then! :p

Can't wait to try an HS410...

A number of high-quality basses (Sadowsky, Skjold, Stambaugh, and others that didn't begin with 'S') were used with a Thunderfunk/HS410 rig at a Jive Sound get-together last month. That rig was a big hit.

Also, after a couple of gigs I'm in love with my HS210 stack (full review in another thread). The HS designation is accurate... these cabs get LOUD. Note that Jim Bergantino said that a pair of HS210 cabs will sound similar enough to an HS410. I've never gigged the latter, but the HS210 stack sounds similar to and is definitely louder than the Sadowsky SA410. I'm certain the same is true for the HS410.

Honestly I think that 63 sounds better then any of Will's Sadowsky's (and I'm not the most retro-ish type of guy although not anti it either).

Hiram is one hell of a cool guy to......

So, fuzz................with a tube head, playing rock and blues, do you prefer the SA410 or the Berg HS series ???

I play rock and blues but am sad to say that I don't have an all-tube head; I use tube preamps and solid state power. Due to my sometimes ridiculous volume requirements (I rarely get PA support), I prefer the HS series.

However the SA410 was designed specifically for tube heads. A buddy of mine absolutely loves the SA410 with his SA200 tube amp. Seeing as how you have an SVT-CL, I would definitely recommend the SA410 if you're looking for something smaller and/or less expensive than the NV610. :)

[I had posted this question in another thread, decided it fit better here, and deleted it there.]

I wonder how an HS410 or pair of HS210 would sound powered by a Mark Bass F1?

Judging by how my LMII and SD800 sound through the HS410, and also going by what time I have spent with an F1, I'd have to say pretty darned good.

Hey Santaclops.....

Do you like that HS410 with any of those crappy tube heads that you have!!!:hiding:

My cab purchase is iminent and although I was set on the NV series these HS410's have thrown me into a loop.

Opinions about the HS410 with 400 watts of all tube Peavey goodness.....please???

IME/IMHO, the HS410 is phenomenal with tube power, and to be honest, this somewhat surprised me. The low end is so huge, but yet it stays tight. And the highs just sing with a nice tube amp.

Just bumping this old thread of mine. I ended up recently picking up a 2nd hand Epifani ul410 series 1. I'm not sure about the forward upper mids with my middy Tfunk and rosewood/alder bass - i'm trying it on a regular saturday night gig this week so its a room i've played a lot before... I might end up selling it for a ul410 series 2... The light weight sure is great with the Epifani's... I tried a Bergatino HS410 on a gig recently too and it sounded good. It had a rich tone with a good low mid punch but i didn't like the horn response as much - it was was a little more hifi and 'thin' than the thicker meaty horn response of the Epifani. I'm sure i could have experimented more with the attenuator and the Thunderfunks EQ... I'm feeling rather confused about gear at the moment... see how i feel after the gig
