Bergantino IP112 - Holy @*#&!

I personally don't find that the Berg IP's really open up, even with a powerful onboard pre, unless they have some sort of line driver or preamp in front of them. My favorites so far have been the Berg line driver and the SIB Fatdrive for a warmer, tubier sound.

Well, keep in mind, that this is still hundreds of dollars less than the price of a Walter Woods Ultra (without a cab!) and not much more than the price of a Focus and HT112. But just as Sadowsky's aren't for everyone (based upon preference or means) the IP cabs are not, either. But, they are a pretty darn neat product line, and (also much like Sadowsky's) a number of people are going to really enjoy them and feel that they got their money's worth.

And of course, many, many other players will get by just fine with great big smiles on their faces playing totally different gear. We are fortunate, as bass players, to have a number of excellent products available to us at a wide variety of price ranges.

Actually, I liked the IP 310 better than the IP 112. I just liked the punch of the 310 better.

That being said, I was more amazed by the IP112 because of the sheer improbability that such a small box could pump out so much bass. If I moved my rig a lot (instead of never), I would have gone with the 112, and gotten an EX112 as well.

I didn't have the chance to try a 212, but if it sounds anything like the IP112/EX112 combo, I still preferred the 310 slightly.

To my ears, the IP310 just flat out kicks even without a preamp, but the IP112, IP212, and IP322 all benefit more than the IP310 from the use of a quality preamp.

I also somewhat prefer the bigger IP cabs, but FWIW, the IP212 sounds more like the IP310 than it does the IP112/EX112. Still, it has its own voice.

To my ears, and I tried all 3, as well as a prototype IP322, the BEST sounding IP rig was the IP310 stacked on the IP212. Holy Mother of God that was incredible. It's also VERY expensive and VERY heavy, but if cost and weight were no object, you could sideline doing demolitions with that thing. Individually, I liked the IP310 the best, followed by the IP322, IP212, then the IP112. As Tom said though, I haven't heard the IP112 with the new programming, and I can't wait to do so!

I guess that's more of what I meant. Everyone is knocked out by the 310 and 212 but being what it is, they're floored by the 112. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have one of each!:D

Edit: That's everyone that I see play them for the first time at Rockcity Guitars in Somerville (Boston).

I agree. The 212 is more like the IP310 than the others, but totally different. It was a killer rock amp IMO. Both toether were so good.

You know I have to say something here! :ninja: I was very impressed by the IP's in general. However that IP112 with extension cab is, I believe, over 80 pounds! Given that, the IP310 makes much more sense, or a more traditional, large, lightweight cab with a good, lightweight power head.

If I was playing small gigs, the IP112 alone with a small 'stomp box' pre would be great. However, if I had to add that additional cab, it becomes much less interesting to me. If I were playing a single 12, that Glock 112 to me is the best of the best with a good head like the Soul, a Walter, a Focus, etc. Totally amazing for a small and light cab... just smokin'!

String....as I just posted above, in my opinion, you got the best of the bunch! Pretty much everyone at the last Bowlus Bass Borg concurred, the IP 310 is the SHIZNIT! (of course, they are all great!)

ken, the difference is that a bass goes on your back and a 112 in each hand......done. Of coarse, you can always wheel in the larger IP's, so there you go. The 112's are just much easier to carry around for me.

I will say that, if money were no concern, I'd have an IP112 for smaller gigs and probably an IP212 for the larger gigs.

That would be awesome. 112 for jazz gigs and 212 for the rock. A 310 would be great if I they gave me money to slap. I think they give me money not to slap. :hiding:

I have to say one more time. OMG the IP310 and IP212 sounded amazing together. That plus the TD-1 would be the money no object rig. At least for the upright side of my larger doubling gigs. The electric side would be something more tubey like what I use now, DB750+NV610.
