No step child there. I "just" have an HT112 and I love it. I use it with an Eden WT-550 and it sounds killer.

That's good to know. Will it be loud enough for rock gigs? Or should I buy one and then start saving for a 2x10? I love 2x10 cabinets, but I can get the money together for the 1x12 allot quicker. If it will suffice for now, I'll probably do that. I'd really like to get the 322, but that's pricey.

I'm sure I'll take flack for this, but $1800 for a single cab? I understand that it's touchy to talk about how people spend their own money, but that figure is really touching a nerve. For those of you earning your living playing bass live I can maybe understand, maybe...

$1800 is a lot, but don't forget it comes with a serious amp. You're also paying a lot for the convenience factor. It's like getting a 200 Gb hardrive for less than $200, but a 40 Gb ipod will cost you like $300. You catch my drift?

I have been playing through the IP112 and the stack at Club Bass and am totally blown away by the sound.
Made me want to sell everything I own and buy it!!!

You can call Jim in Ashland but you may be better off going to Rockcity Guitars in Somerville.

I will let Mike, Pat and Steve confirm this, but we just did a 1x12 shootout last night, and the IP112 with the new program (which is what Jim is using now in his production models) really distanced itself from everything else (including the Focus into the HT112 - which still sounded darned good, though!).

To my knowledge, the pricing is fixed from dealer to dealer, and the actual cost of the IP112 is $1899.

Having said that, I can't believe how good it sounds, and if Jim's line driver is as good as Tom Bowlus says it is, I just might have to shell out the cash for an all-Bergantino rig!

Yup, I was also very impressed to hear the final programmed version of the IP112 compared to the older version, which I already thought was incredible.

Definitely not a knock on the Focus. It's a great sounding amp, and I'm REALLY impressed with it. So impressed in fact, I bet Tom will buy one soon.

Mike, this isn't possible still as the DSP allows Jim to compress different frequencies seperately as much or as little as desired.

Andy, I understand and agree with with what your saying, but all I'm saying is that when placed side by side the IP sounded different. Not necessarily better or worse IMO.

Just two different versions of great.

IMO, again, IMO, the IP isn't breaking any new ground in the tone dept other than sounding great. Which we all know others do as well.

I'll put my Focus/Epi up next to the IP any day. They both sound good.

You might not have heard the full effect standing behind the cabs, but there was really quite a difference between the IP112 and any of the other 1x12's. The low end, for one, is just so much more massive, deep, and full, but still with incredible fidelity and taughtness. And the upper mids/highs were very present but very smooth. When we tried to dial in your Focus with the HT112 to sound more like the IP, IMHO, we didn't get close (though that was a great matchup in its own right).
