Bergantino NV158? ???

I believe Jim will be making a final decision in the next week or two.. This weekend should be the final testing on my end.
I've been waiting to use the cabs on my regular gig, but we had a few weeks off... I've been using them on a fill-in gig with a rock band and liked them, very punchy and plenty of low end.. My regular band situation gives me a known surrounding for how the cab will work for me.. We are a 6 piece with 5 vocals, backing horn tracks and cover alot of different styles.... The fill-in situation is a 3 piece band with a different drummer each week and I had to learn alot of new material I'm not familiar with.. I believe no matter how a rig may sound at home, on the gig performance is really the best test... I also have had a few players listen to them and have liked them.. There was an "Exquisite" comment from one player.. Tomorrow afternoon I'm meeting up with 3 local bass players who have been around for years and have played alot of gear.. I value their opinions...
The cab in the pic has the new 15 woofer and I do like it better than the other 15 which is the same as the NV-215.. The mid drivers are both the same... The cab is about 53 pounds to the best of my knowledge..
I've been using them with a ShuttleMax 9.2 and I've also have a Shuttle 9.2 and Streamliner 900 and they all sound great.. Whats cool is I can set the gain at 75% to full on and get a very nice warm tube tone that sounds very natural to me.. I could not do that when I was using it with an HT-112ER, it would sound too harsh too my ears.. Another thing I've noticed is I'm not crazy about horns and tweeters, I prefer this set-up with a woofer/driver...
I am very curious what Tom will think too and looking forward to his opinion as well...

shipping's no big deal. I've had cabs shipped from Alberta, Germany, California etc.

In fact, you'll probably see an even bigger availability of used 412's as players migrate to the more modular 115's. And the average condition of those used 412's will be better than ever. In fact you couldn't have asked for a better opportunity to benefit! (you're the only player I've ever heard of that wants two!)

...the glass could actually be be half full.
glass half full. I'll keep my eyes peeled in the used thread and stay ready to pull the trigger.

I think it will be better without the attenuator. I always ran mine all the way up as the mid seemed a bit weak in overall output compared to the woofers. The attenuator did some crazy things to the impedance curve which I can't imagine did much for the response.

Yeah, I think that was the way to go. I can only assume that he is using a sealed back mid from eminence and then a tweaked version of the 15". Jims tweaks are usually pretty good so, if he is getting more low mid punch out of the woofer, I think that I'd be pretty happy with a pair of them. Im not a huge fan of the eminence mids but, it may work with jim at the helm. Looking forward to Tom's input.

I'd like to hear one or more of them with:

1) An Orange Terror 1,000
2) A Fender Bassman 100
3) A Fender Bassman 300
4) Aguilar 750/1
5) AMPIG SVT

That's for darned sure! And I still remember my first gig with a Bergantino 10 years ago -- been using them ever since.

Yeah...everything else is 'well this is good, but...' usually followed by some superlative about Jim's cabs...nothing else quite does it, really...some get close...

No it does not...

We don't need no steenkeeng attenuator! Trust in the force! If it needed one, he'd put it on there.

Can hardly wait...he should have a white tolex with orange grill cloth option (or vice versa), as well as a silver grill cloth option to match my choice of amps...

Cheers,
Cameron

I can do most of those. Actually, all of them except for the Bassman 100. Problem is, not all of my gear is in the same location. Still, I already have some of those set up in my basement and ready to go for tomorrow. Got a nice set of comparison cabs ready to go, as well.
