Bergantino NV158? ???

Ken, so Jim actually is using a different mid that goes alittle higher? It sounds like the new woofer is going to be better as well. Im pretty excited about this cab. Could one of the beta testers weigh the cab with the new drivers? I've got the cash put aside already.

I have no info on that other than new components versus the NV215 are being tested, and that Jim said his goal was a bit punchier, controlled low end versus the NV215, and a bit more presence in the upper mids, since many (including me) felt that those two big woofers overwhelmed the mid driver a bit in the original execution.

That is all I know! Really not in my tone wheelhouse, so I am not involved at all in this, other than sending an email with a few clarification questions to Jim when questions came up in the CN212 thread that I could not answer.

I don't think the decision has been made to actually introduce this cab at this point (Jim is constantly working on cab designs), but my guess is, we will know about that around the time the CN line starts to ship in a few weeks or so.

Since Tom B. has an NV215, and is getting one of these cabs to check out this weekend (per his post above) he can probably speak to this a bit next week.

I too am anxiously awaiting the sale date for these...........any idea? I still have my NV215 BTW......a smoking cab. Had a NV412, didnt care so much for it. Had a HT-322 and loved it. Had a HS410 and regret selling it................I can not wait for these. I am hoping ONE will replace my TWO aggie db112's

Again, I don't think the decision has been made to move ahead with this cab.

If you like the DB112 stack (I LOVE those cabs), do not rule out the CN212. If you have a solid state amp, the 4ohm impedance is nice, and while the CN212 is a bit more present in the upper midrange, the round, punchy, fat low end and warm present mids has MUCH in common with the 2 x DB112 stack.

If you have an upper midrange control centered anywhere in that 1K area, IME you can get the CN212 in the same tone universe as the DB112's.

If you are looking for the more relaxed mids and huge low end of the HT322, then the HD212 would probably make you happy, althought the top end will not be nearly as extended into the upper treble., and IMO the midrange is MUCH more balanced.

Thanks Ken. It's really funny how I end up sounding a bit like you when playing through the nv610 but, not so much the AE410. Really different basses I guess. I hope that Jim produces this cab in a big way. A pair of them could definitely replace my nv610 and give me some options. At this point I don't think that I'd sell the NV610 though, because it gives a great stick to measure all other cabs for my needs. So yeah, if you talk to Jim at all, let him know that there is interest for this cab and that I will personally take a pair of them. Looking forward to what Tom has to say.

:D I was noticing that! I LOVED that NV610 clip you put up, and it is quite similar to the tone I get on my AE410 clips (especially the clips I put up quite a while ago and eventually took down due to most of the gear being off the market, etc.).

This is why I think it is SO useful for those of us (like you and me) who post a lot (too much:p) about all this stuff to put up a few clips. Given the amazing recording quality that is now available (we both use the same amazing quality recorder), you can really give the listener a pretty good idea of what a rig/bass sounds like within the contexts of the player's technique and tone goal (as long as that listener has a good set of phones).

Furthermore, it gives the reader a sense of the skill level of the poster, which is key. Many times at GTG's I'm a bit surprised at how burning some players are that post a lot, and on the other hand, the complete lack of basic technique of others. In addition, per the previous point, very good to know if someone posting is coming from the same place or a different place regarding tone goals, type of music played, etc.

Oh Snap indeed. Thanks for the pics SCT1422.

+1 Nice looking! Like a 'baby NV215'!

Again, totally guessing on intro date. I'm sure Jim will let someone know when he gets a hard production date. He is VERY good at hitting his target dates!

I guess the next big moment for the Berg fans is when the production CN cab pictures make it up on the Berg website. Should be within a couple weeks!
