Bernard Edwards - Sadowsky Model

I'm just happy to see Bernard Edwards remembered no matter what he played. He and Marcus Miller are likely my two biggest influences, even if I only have a tiny fraction of their ability.

He was in Japan but he was with Chic not the Power Station. He collapsed on stage and died several hours later that night.
BTW The first bass I saw Nard play was the BC Rich Eagle.

I think the sadowsky sounded like magic in his hands... my friend had a sadowsky from that era too and it was magic.. i wish i had bought that bass off him... what am i saying, the sadwskys today are freakin' incredible too... just stellar instruments... top of the top..
I saw duran duran recently and JT had the musicman with him but he did not play it.. and i assume it was bernards old one... but that is only a guess.

Sounds like Bernard was like Hendrix - not fully appreciated back home but adored in the UK. Maybe that's why so many UK connections. Chic were on the tv and radio all the time.

I bought my SR4 in '77 and Bernard was the main man for those around that time.
He'd be on my bass 'A' list.

Yessir those are EMG's, he sounded great no matter what he played thru but that Sadowsky sure sounds fat.

Here's a great Nile Rodgers interview. He talks a lot about Bernard and mentions the "original MM ST strings" story in it.

Yep, an Eagle IIRC. Didn't look as out there as the Mockingbird. Ton of switches and knobs. Nice basses... I had one back in 1978 that I traded for a new (and unknown) first year Tobias.

But apart from his technique: I want to challenge you. Is there any bass-player out there, who can play "Thinking Of You"?
I can play the chorus. At least I think so. But I simply don't get, what he's doing during the verses. I can play along with it and it sounds somehow like what he's doing, but I simply don't get it.
It's octaves again and it's his thumb-index finger technique, but I still don't get it.

Bernard Edwards was sheer perfection. You can keep all the bass solos. Bernard Edwards played absolutely perfect bass!

Is that a real thing? Isn't TBC a relatively new company?
I see a G&L bridge, Music Man control plate and a Fender neck. But I wouldn't bet on it.
Yeah, an L-1000 is more likely, but TBC was around in the 1980's as a boutique outfit in California.
