Best amp you played through

In the spirit of the other thread where people listed their worst amps, I'd now like to switch gears and have everyone list the BEST amp they ever played through. If this thread gets over 10 pages, I'll again tabulate the results and post them up.

I'm going to throw my own vote in there for a TC Electronic BG250 combo. I have no complaints about the thing years after buying it.

GO!

Depends upon my mood, the music to be played, the volume required, and the acoustic environment. On the tube amp side I would have to say the Sadowsky SA200 stands out as the most versatile tone monster although a bit limited on extreme volume. Ampeg SVT, Trace Elliot V8, or perhaps a Reeves Custom 400 if more volume is required. The V8 has a nice stringy quality in the mids and can get narly while the Reeves is a bright clean machine with tight, deep lows. The SA200 can cover most of the tonal range of the V8 and Reeves and creates it's own unique and highly desirable dirt, but IMHO doesn't really cop the grind and grunt of a cranked SVT. Ashdown 427 is possibly the hugest sounding and heaviest tube amp I have ever played, another clean machine but a bit pillowy. If you want to feel like you are in an arena on every gig, the 427 is the way to go. At the other end of the power spectrum, a Fender Showman sounds awesome for bass.

On the hybrid side, hard to argue against a Genz GBE 1200 for versatility, power, and tone, but there are times when I would prefer an Ampeg 8 Pro or Mesa Titan. The 8 Pro can sound very close to an SVT but covers a bit more tonal ground and gets much louder. The Titan is perfect anytime you want maximum presence in order to dominate the mix. It causes the entire building to shake even at low volume.

On the solid state side, GK RB series amps can be super punchy or scooped. Great for an aggressive rock sound or slap. I even used one in country band and loved it. If you want a more woody tone, Epifani 902C has you covered.

There are several other amps I have played that would be better for one thing or another...you get the idea. There are also several amps I would love to play, but that will have to wait until someone makes a donation or I win the lottery.

Markbass TTE500, tried one in a store to demo the bass and bought one the following weekend
Aguilar db571 - my eventual dream amp
Orange AD200 - simple, grindy meaty tones

Most new amps these days are very good though, i dont a bad amp actually exists these days. all are good for one thing or another.

The 361m has a 15" neo Eminence, while the full size has a beefy 18" driver. I got the little guy used for $1600 from Guitar Center, and George Grexa gave me the endorser discount for the 360/361, which is about half-off list. Hence my CONSTANT posting of these pictures everywhere I can.

Played a huge-ass 4-H hall at the local county fairgrounds this last weekend. Set the 360 cabinet in the corner behind the drummer, turned it up to 6 on gain / 4 on master, and filled the room with bass--no mains needed.

Best for:
The person asked to provide their "oh my god, that is so f♧♤■□<>}ING it!"
Amp, therefore, "best"

80's -SVT '73 with a flat back
Late 80's 90's, Trace Elliott AH600 with SWR Goliath, and bag end equipped Big Ben.
Fast forward past a 15+year hiatus, frantic flipping found a sound that would have ruled them all the mighty Mesa Titan V12.
Dethroned by the D800 primarily for portability, and without losing small tonal tweaks that I could add outboard.

If I don't have to move it, gimme an SVT, V4 or a vintage Fender Bassman 100, 135, 300t (or it's Sunn ancestor)
And a fridge. Or Mesa Titan, M series, or bigblock, 400, (+) , into Mesa 2x15 or 2x410s.

Style independent, volume independent.

Cool, but you didn't get all that close to "the best amp." Not amps. Link Removed

That makes it a whole lot tougher, at least for me.
