Best amp you played through

SWR Bass 350.
I had bought a Workingman's 2004 and matching 4X10 cabinet brand spankin' new and liked it very much, so when a Bass 350 came up for sale for less money than the wattage rating I snagged it.

This amp has pretty much any tone I'm after in it, and I don't play in loud bands, so the highest I've ever run the master was 9:00.
I run the pre pretty hot, but it's got plenty of headroom, clean or otherwise for what I need.
I swapped in a JJ ECC83 and it sounds even better than the GT 12AX7 that was in it before.

It's certainly not state of the art, or maybe even on many people's lists these days, but I like it and it sounds good.

Genz Benz GBE1200. Best amp I've ever heard, played through, and owned. Sounds great, perfectly functional, and is built well enough to handle all the senseless abuse I've put it through over the years.

This beaten up bad boy. With 2 4x10 EBS cabs. Extremely powerful.

Ps : the previous band's bassist left his tequila shot on top of it. I wouldn't do that.

I had a early grey-striped fafner years ago & it sounded incredible. Kept having the power switches replaced (which was common in the early ones)
But man, what a sound!

Easy my Ampeg B2R!

Such an indistinct tone for ever occasion.

Only kidding. My fav and current best practise amp has been a little vintage early 70s traynor all valve combo. I loved it for home use.

Still searching for the best large amp I've played currently they all have been rather mediocre.

The TC Electronic BG250 210 was a great lightweight combo, but not enough to keep up with my drummer at the time.
GK 1001RB-II with SWR 10s (in the past) and currently GK RBH 10s Neo 12s

best Amp I ever played but never bought:
EBS Gorm 210 combo

Heritage SVT is definitely the best amp I've ever owned. The orange ad200b I had for a month was awesome too (though I missed the cutting midrange presence of Ampeg). The V4B and 212av combo I've got now is a perfect rig for me. Perfect amount of volume in a very convenient package. I think the V4B ends up sounding a little "better" than my SVT since I'm able to crank it :bassist:

Well, the best *sounding* amp I ever owned/used was an Eden WT-400, however I could never get it to put out enough volume and reluctantly sold TWO of them (bought a 2nd one after the 1st sale, then remembered why I sold it). So the runner up was a MarkBass LittleMark III. However, that's not my current amp, which is a LM Tube800. It's not quite as good, but I wanted two inputs with individual levels.
I agree but to fix the power problem I use mine as a preamp into a Stewart world 2.1 into two 8 ohm 410xlt cabs.
At 800 watts it's a whole different animal.
