Best bag or case for cables/misc gear?

I'm curious how many cables you're bringing - I usually only have one, maybe two (as a backup). When I used to play with a larger rig I would have everything pre-wired to remedy this.

But when I have to bring my PA I use a big rolling container from Home Depot or something. Needs wheels and a handle

7 or 8 cables. All for personal use. Plus some odds and ends. I don’t haul the cables for the pa. I do run my own mix for my in ear monitor off a 4 channel Mackie. Also carry a few extra cables just in case. Always used a milk crate, or lately a plastic bag, but I just mainly want to streamline my gear and get more organized. I Velcro all my cables and keep them rolled up. I’m looking to make one trip from my car to the stage and know exactly where everything is for a quick setup

It depends on how many cables you have. I have a small plastic tool box that works just fine for me.

For those gigs when I'm not providing the PA I use one of these. Holds everything I need ... DEWALT 28 in. 12 Gal. Mobile Tool Box-DWST28100D - The Home Depot. I'm at an age (63) where anything that can be put on wheels is on wheels ... For the gigs where I'm hauling the PA, I use that box plus one similar to this ... DEWALT Tough Chest 38 in. 63 Gal. +1 on old luggage.

I've been using an old American Tourister soft-sided duffle bag for more than 30 years... yup, the same brand that used to air the commercials with the gorillas slamming their stuff around (youtube those spots... quite amusing).

The bag holds all my cables, direct boxes, adapters, small percussion and more. It's been super... built tough-as-nails and still looks like it did the day I acquired it... whenever the heck that was. Sorta looks like this...

I've used one of these for 20+ years. Zippers are starting to wear out a little, but still very usable.

I also have a back pack, but it’s maxed out at this point.

So get a second one! Cheap, cheerful, lots of compartments to organize stuff. My preferred way to carry a Class D amp and all accessories to a gig.

I use a small duffel that I've had for around 15 years. Realistically the best option would probably be a backpack because that's one less thing to hold in my hand when loading in.

Nice bags have a habit of attracting sticky fingers. A cheap-looking bag doubles as an anti-theft device. Personally I'd rather have the nice bag, they are just nicer and easier to work with, depends on what kind of circles you have to move in.

I like the Musician's Gear 49-key gig bag from GC. I use it to carry my heavy duty music stand, 24 inch folding stool (Wal-Mart type), my Hercules bass stand, cables, cords, sheet music and even my class-d head, in a separate padded tote bag. It has a handle and shoulder strap. It's cheap, too!

Check out Harbor Freight for Tool Bags. Don't know what or how much you're hauling, but there are several sizes. And prices are as low as $14 for a 16" bag, or even $7 for an 11" bag. Great heavy duty construction, and super effective for wires, mics, or other smaller items like adapters and the like.

I use a 5.11 Patrol Bag. Big main pocket with hard Velcroed dividers and eight different sized smaller pockets inside and out. [This invalid link has been removed]

I've had a version of this that I've used for about 10 years...it's been pretty indestructible, and it has a compartment for everything. I always keep at least 3 of every cable I use, including IEC power cables. Plus my small pedal board, 9v adaptors, various other audio adaptors, a screw driver, needle nose pliers, flashlight, extra packs of strings, wireless transmitter, batteries, plus my guitar stands go under the handles. It holds everything except my amp, cabs and basses.

I like the way many of the cable bags have soft separations to keep cables from getting tangled.
I am hoping to make fake speaker cabinets for all our cables etc. My band happens to be just about ampless... and with electronic drums too. My goal is to make cable boxes that look like 210 or 212 cabs... get to a gig, pull the cables out of our boxes and stack them behind us like speakers... after the gig, fill them up and hit the road. It's not for everyone, but I'd appreciate even a few fewer trips and a stage that looks like it has amps on it..

I use a makeup artist train case. It separates into sections & stacks together with a handle & 2 wheels for transport. There's plenty of space for mic/line (XLR) cables plus various adapter, patch, insert, etc. & even smaller trays for small stuff.

Maxpedition Jumbo shoulder bag. Just big enough to hold what I really need (keeps me from bringing useless stuff), plus it used up a bunch of funds I might have otherwise squandered on other foolish luxuries, like food or something.

Really sick of using milk crates and Tupperware containers for all my cables. Not really seeing much to remedy such a conundrum. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I store cables, string cutters/winders. Spare batteries and all that kind of stuff in the pouches on my rack bag, pouch on the bag for my pedaltrain pedalboard, and in my bass case.

I have a grab and go bag that has a few things in it. It's a camera backpack that has little velcro fences was easy enough to section up for cables, a few different DIs, tools, etc. Works pretty well.
Those DJ bags that a few different people are making might be good too. Gator, Mono, Gruv gear, there are others.
