Best bass for around $2000?

I love Iron Maiden too and they are a huge influence for me on drums, bass, and guitar. Two words however: Heavily. Modified. lol.

It's the same to me as people thrashing BC Rich or Dean. The low ends are bad, sure. But the midrange and highend ones are not bad at all. Hell, my BC Rich Bich is one of my favorite guitars and my Dean Razorback Bass is a great bass for metal and I have even used it at country shows.

To each their own. I have played on American Standard J-Basses and just am not impressed by them. To me it's like a Harley: I could pay 15k+ for a Harley, or I could pay 1k for a Honda CB750. They both do the same thing and one is more of a status symbol.

Would I own one? Sure if the price was right. Would I pay that much for it when I could get a handmade bass from another company for that cost customized to my specs? Nah.

I'm pretty sure I specifically said I didn't want a Fender ._.

Even on bass chat, all people said was Yamaha or Fender, when I specifically said I wanted a CUSTOM instrument.

I am telling you my man: Look into Harper Guitars. 100% custom. I just got mine last week and it was worth every single cent. It is the best bass I have ever set my hands on and sounds absolutely amazing. Plus it is light as hell! The action on it is ridiculous. Not to mention it's gorgeous.

Why is anyone even recommending Fender unless it's a vintage Fender??

You have to go try the basses yourself.. I did and I finally found the bass I thought was the closest to what was in my head.. And guess what? nobody ever recommended it and I never even heard about the company till i tried their basses.. it was crazy expensive but it was the only bass i tried in a bass megastore that sounded and felt what I wanted..

i know you will have to go through the same thing.. so the end result is you need to go try all the basses.

I've owned multiple basses in the 1000-2000 range and nothing I've had my hands on touches the ibanez Prestige line. They are quality craftsmanship and the tone you get and the way it stands out in the mix is amazing. I like them so much I know own a 4005 and 4505 model.
