What is the best bass for getting that music sound? I mean, picture a bass player's work on an album by a band. That's what I am going for. Any suggestions? Oh yeah, and I absolutely will not play a Warwick.

troll? I resent that. I am conducting an expiriment. So far the results are pretty much backing a theory of mine. Lets see what happens next.
The anwer is obvious. If it's a musical endeavour, it's not a bass you want at all, (since basses are technically rythym instruments), what you want is a piano. And, I never could spell rythym, probably why I have so much trouble playing music with my basses. I need a piano too, I guess.

Ok, so the expiriment is talkbass related. Every fifth thread is "what bass is best for what" and the answer is always "whatever the guy posting plays/likes" and usually just turns into "whats your favorite bass?" Usually one brand is arbitrarily selected as the anything but this brand, so I picked Warwick from a hat. The relevance of this is hoping that people posting such threads will see that if they ask "what is the best bass for the chicken dance" or "can I play a Wishbass in a metal band" will realize that likely this is all they are going to get. To make it a real question, I'd have to ask "what should I buy for an all around workhorse bass" but I'd still get mostly the same responses.
New question: Why did you pick the bass you currently play for the music you currently play. Be honest, too. If you picked a P for your punk band because everyone knows that is the proper bass to use than admit it. IF you are way out playing a Pentabuzz in a thrash metal band, why and how do you make it work? Instead of asking how I am supposed to use your equipment or if I am somehow "not allowed" to, I am asking what people are doing with that equipment so I can be more creative with the stuff I already have.

I highly recommend the kind with strings.
