Best bass for playing music

I don't know about this "Bass for playing music" nonsense, but I recently came across an Ocelot who could rock balls on the Mountain Dulcimer.

Dulci-king. But that's to be expected, what with the lacking of the opposable thumbs and all...

Still, he's one of the best session "cats" I know.

Obviously to get that sound off that album with that guy, you need to have that bass, and pay the extortionate amount of money it now goes for because that guy off that album used it, and even though when he recorded that album that bass was cheap and nasty and he only played it cos he was poor it must be worth it cos he played it on that album right?

Oh, and it's a Kay with mile-high action, sorry, vintage rare collectible relic Kay...

Why thank you, I do catch on quickly, s'why I get to do so many stand in gigs, also why they never ask me to stay, nobody likes a smartarse...

River, lake or saltwater? No one is covering all the factors when recommending their gear to me. I am so lost! I came to this forum with my question to avoid haveing to make any kind of judgement or decision by myself and all you guys are doing is clouding the issue! I know you mean well, but you haveto be more specific or ill spend my entire life on here and never pull the trigger on a new squier..or MIM...or SX.

lousy what genres do you get into? what is your perfered tone?
you can chage pickups out of any bass nowdays.
So if this question is about playability, then it matters what each person wants for balance, action, bite, feel, frets, inlays, pickups, neck thickness, gloss, fretboard wood, weight, etc. By that standard, the only bass i could see that could fit that is one that someone pieces together by themselves part by part. A perfect bass for playing Lousy? I dont know if it exsist, there are too many variables.

Well, once i find it, I'm starting a club for it. Anyone who has that exact same bass, amp, strings, cable, tuner, gig bag, hard case, string winder, strap, straplocks, bridge, sticker between the pups, pups themselves, stand, and polishing cloth can join. Obviously I will need pics.
