If you like a deep smooth beer and are in Texas, give Shiner Bock a try. I know you can get it in the Willamette Valley. I bought some at Cub Foods in Corvallis a few years back for some BBQ at a friends place, but it doesn't travel at all well. Best to get it as close to Shiner as possible.

A local bar where a drummer of mine used to be the bouncer serves Shiner Bock. It's okay, but ultimately I'm not really into lagers and pilsners. I'd happily try it at the source though!
I've not tried that combo, but it sounds unmercillesly sweet to me.
I should clarify...I tend to use diet Coke or Coke zero with this concoction, so the sweetness is balanced. It's a nice alternative to the regular JD and coke.
I had a bottle of Old Rasputin last night.
Although, I was having pizza at Mellow Mushroom the other night, and they make a "Dirty Hippie", which was a black and tan made with Sweetwater 420 and Guinness. That was a great pint, I had two of those before meeting up with some friends.

OK, OK...at a recent semi-musical engagement, it was Clown Shoes Pecan Pie Porter. That one traveled all the way to Atlanta from Ipswich, Mass.

Huh--- out of ALL the hangovers I have had, the worst by far always involved tequila! Unless you are having two sips and calling it a night.
I will stick with my two faves Tecate and High Life.
That's because, like the many other people who say exactly the same thing, you were drinking some kind of god-awful rotgut like Jose Cuervo Especial. Such "mixtos" are a blend of half tequila (distilled from agave) and half alcohol distilled from something else (e.g., sugar cane or grain) -- the perfect recipe for hangovers. In contrast, tequilas that are "100% de agave" are some of the purest spirits available. I've never had a hangover from even way-too-much good tequila, as I do from beer, whiskey, wine, etc. Check out this thread for more info:
