best female bassist

Yeah she still seems to be a beginner, maybe she will improve over time. It probably annoys people that she is lucky enough to be in a pretty big band and be sort of a novice but it doesn't matter to me. A lot of people pick up an instrument just to be in a band and fall in love with that instrument because of it and gets good at it, her band just happened to get big before she had the chance I guess. I still like them. I'm interested in this Tanya Tanya person, I never heard of this although it makes since. I looked on my CD insert and sure enough, There it is in teeny tiny letters at the bottom... TaNYa CaNDLeR-STuDio BaSS. My theory was right! Woo Hoo, im am a genius.! Bow before me!
P.S. who is Robin Mulder?

I don't really keep up well with these genres, but educate me:
I was under the impression that D'arcy didn't play much of the bass on the Pumpkin's albums. I thought BC did most of the tracks himself?

Am I wrong?

You're close. The only record where that happened was Siamese Dream. This is the record where the bass was pretty much only felt, not heard. But D'arcy played bass on all of the other Smashing Pumpkins albums.

Flea Claydirnt........

Tanya Candler is now in a femme-punk band. They haven't released anything.
I forget what it's called.

Robin Mulder is my favourite bassist out of anyone in the world. She was in J ack Off Jill, (they broke up a few months ago) the goth/punk/mansonite band which was made out of some of the origional members of Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids when they split.
I think Robin was in JOJ from the start along with Jessicka Fodera.

Tal Wilkenfeld is one of the best, male or female.

Emma Anzai is up there for me too. Had the pleausre of meeting her once, super nice and down to Earth. I pushed my way to the front of the crowd to see her play, she is amazing.

Without a doubt, Mishell Ndegeocello is by far the best woman bassist. In fact, forget the "woman" part of it. She is one of the funkiest, grittiest bassists ever! She so solid it's beyond belief. Take all the smooth and shiny stuff off of Marcus Miller and you have Mishell

She gets my vote. When I think of female bassists she is the first that comes to mind.

I was lucky enough to be within 50 feet of her on their Melon Collie tour. It was a first rate show. I had a huge crush on her. She had a throughly solid presence and cut through James Iha's continuous din. Her and Corgan sparred a few times on stage, but she held her own against that a-hole. Too bad she never got herself together after the pumpkins broke up. Drugs, plastic surgery, Mickey Rourke, - all pretty unhealthy choices.
