Best Female Singing Voice

I'm not even a big fan of country OR Western, but Patsy Cline was great regardless of category.
Yes I totally agree. I grew up listening to her. My Mom was a huge fan.
Geddy’s voice is something I can only take in small doses but he is one of my all time favorite bassists. He never claimed to be a great singer. He was always a bassist first and foremost.OK, them's fightin words. I'm Canadian, and a huge Rush fan
And what a bassist he is. Absolute beast.
Well honestly, if you're such a Geddy Lee fan, why you putting him down like that?
As I've already stated earlier, my vote would go to the lovely Linda Ronstadt every time but, it will also depend upon which genres I suppose one prefers.
Linda was always versatile with broad appeal which made her popular across the board but if I had to choose say a Gospel singer to listen to then Mahalia Jackson would be without doubt my first choice.
Mahalia was the Gospel equivalent of Ella Fitzgerald's jazz renditions. Both of whom I rate as supreme exponents of their own genres.
Another female with a very easy listening voice around sixty years ago was Connie Francis. Excellent if you liked that style of popular music and again with wide public appeal.

While I agree that announcing one of these incredible singers as "The Best" is impossible to the point of being silly, having a personal favorite is not. I find it just incredible to think that with 27 grammys, second only to Beyonce Knowles who picked up her 28th just last year, that Alison Krauss seems to have so few supporters for her angelic voice! Must be the overlooked genre, bluegrass, that partly accounts for that. I would suggest that her band, "Union Station" features virtually the best musicians or certainly they are at the top of their respective lists of instrument players (if we say that?). That surely helps showcase her vocal and playing abilities even further. But I've loved bluegrass for decades even being a lifelong Mainer, thus my bias. Go figure!
