Best headstock ever?

I like compact headstocks...2 + 2 for 4 strings....Ibanez/Cort/Tobias/Warmoth etc. I've built 2 Warmoth J basses with their 2 + 2 headstock and I think it looks great, plus it assists with balance.
For 4 inline designs I know this is polarising but I'm quite partial to the G&L "eyegouger" design.

Out of the Fender-style headstocks I would say Warwick, love theirs.

Why without the munch? I like that one a lot. Also the Omega cut Alembic from a few pages back. Also I like the Benavente headstocks quite a lot. Enough that I did a similar thing on the basses I built for myself.

Also the classic Ric 4003 can opener headstock, the Ovation Shovel head, and one of the coolest I've seen in pics looks like a squid. Wish I could remember who built those.

I found the headstock crucial to determine if I like or not the style of a bass.
I mean, body, color, hardware are also there but the headstock alone can determine the choice or tame the GAS.
I tend to prefer Fender style headstocks (including Yamaha or G&L an MM maybe) and I love when tuners are not in line but not symmetrical (3+1 or 3+2 configurations) except for the P telecaster style.
Which ones are your faves?

Me, too. My sentimental favorite is the headstock of my first high-quality (i.e., non-department store) bass, an Epiphone Newport. I will always prefer all-on-a-side tuners, but the Newport's headstock always gives me a warm glow!

Those are the Steinberger gearless tuners - not sure they are available anymore...

Incidentally those machines were quite problematic to use with bass strings... after much experimentation I ended up using the bottom five from a Danelectro six-string bass set, to get the right gauges ( that bass was 32 inch scale)

By definition, I idealize a straight string pull on a tilt-back headstock:

Yes, it's simple, with less hardware and less snag points.

Couple that with a 2 and 2 grouping to minimize weight and neck dive, and I'm all in !

Another good example, yes.

Though I prefer a lacquered fingerboard, like on a Ric and some Fenders.
