If it's not a Fender, it's not a true Jazz bass.

Oh yeah, I've always thought a Chinese Fender was superior to a Sadowsky, just cos of the brand name. :-oIf it's not a Fender, it's not a true Jazz bass.
Well, if we're going to pick nits the OP didn't ask for pictures of "Jazz basses", he wrote "jazz basses" which I interpret as basses in the style of the Fender Jazz Bass®. Fender haven't managed to trademark the word jazz just yet.If it's not a Fender, it's not a true Jazz bass.
No, he didn't.Leo Fender invented pretty much all electric basses,
Gibson had one too around the same time, I think.![]()
So far as I can see the only electric bass that owes nothing to Leo Fenders designing is the Audiovox model 736 bass fiddle from the '30's by Paul Tutmarc, which was highly influential on designers but pretty unpopular with musicians.
I'm keen to find out more though.
Damn right! This is getting OT and has also been rehashed many times ... how about some more pictures of "jazz basses"?![]()
I asked if they had considered a Skyline Decade short scale and they responded they have no plans to offer such a thing. Which seems crazy in my opinion. I would buy one in a heartbeat and I'm sure plenty of others would too. Sure seems a better idea than the Skyline Hollowbody 30 they're selling.
that's my favorite combination as well. Love the maple board with MoP blocks and white binding. Here's mine...yellowed Oly White maple/blocks. Still my favorite.
