Best looking jazz bass?

Yeah this one at Norm's caught my eye big time.
'65 Listed for $22,500.00 not sure if that's original finish or not because it's so clean.

Looking at a close up of the headstock, you can see expected wear on the tuners and string tree and also a slightly rough edge from the masking tape at the nut, so I'm gonna guess it was refinished at some point.

Maybe it's just the colour saturation in the photo but the tort looks redder than what a '65 would have on it and it doesn't appear to be 4-ply. Possibly a recent replacement after that refinish? $22K for a slightly ragged refinished '65? - holy moly Batman

Here we go... These pictures were done by Guido Karp while the Soul Cages Tour in 1991. (Don't talk about copyright and be quiet) ;)

edited: I think last seen of this bass is in the first part of "Ten Summoner Tales" tour concerts as a back-up for his main bass (was a Sunburst Precision (and sometimes played by Dominic Miller in one song) just before he started to use his iconic 57 P-Bass exclusively until now).

looks like it could be the orig finish - I see faint checking. Would make more sense asking that price for a 100% original J. (if spending $22K on a '65 J makes sense to anyone…)

Nah, neck is just way too clean. At the very least, I think the neck was refinished, but the bass could have been re-finished a few years ago too.

early Oly wht/tort '66 dot/bound trib - what's not to love?

Oh my God I think I'm in love! That hand stained winer red is finish is stunning, is the body finish matte? The Ibanez is something a bit different but still a lovely bass, surprised you'd consider changing out the big singles. Played an sr1600 recently with big angles and it rocked my socks off!
