Best rig $3800 budget

For Skid Row tone I'd would look into a used Spector Czech or maybe a Euro model. That would be range from $850 to $1400. Also a USA Spector more more $$. IMO the bass will do more for your tone than whatever you choose for amplification.

A GK 800RB and either an 810 or 2x410's.

Keep an eye on the TB classifieds or Ebay. Many sellers may be willing to ship to Peru especially if you Paypal the money. You can save some cash buying from the USA and shipping to Peru.

Wow...too many answers, thanks a lot for ur effort and time, so the final decision is reduced to:
GK 800rb vs 1001rb-II vs GK 2001 RB

Ampeg 810 ...should I get the reg or heritage? (as I said to get rachel bolan´s tone)

and I´m seriously thinking about getting a new bass...what do you think about this one: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Thanks again

The Heritage version is give you more high end and better overall clarity. That will be very helpful in ANY genre of music. You can always decrease the high end on your amp if you want a less bright tone.

Spector makes great basses, but I have no experience with that model. I use a lot of the Euro 5LX Spector's. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Find a Spector with a P & J pickup set with a 34" scale and you should get Rachel Bolan's tone. The humbucker equipped basses are not going to give you that tone exactly. The P & the J setup will be clear, punchy, growly, and overall a great match. The humbuckers are still good, sound thicker, but do not get the clarity of the P & J setup.

What about the heads?

I'd get the Heritage based on the grillcloth alone! But though I haven't played one, everyone who has tells me it's an improvement over the regular. Honestly, I like the regular one quite well, but that Heritage grillcloth is so cool that if I were in the market for another 810, I'd have to get it.

The lowest wattage GK heads all growl quite nicely, while the higher wattage GK heads sound cleaner and growl at a much higher volume.

The GK 1001RB is 750 Watts at 4 ohms - I think? Plenty of power for nearly anybody. The GK 700RB is 480 watts at 4 ohms and supposedly growls faster and at lower volumes. The 1001RB seems to stay cleaner longer.

Maybe someone with more experience can help you there.

+1

Its so beautiful, I can't look directly at it, for fear of fainting...

With what you like for your tone in a band, I'd get an SVT and 810e and be done with it. Don't know about shipping getting covered but $3800 could buy you a Heritage SVT rig. Or you could get an SVT-VR and have $500 left over. Or you could get the regular SVT-CL and 810e. All of them killer rigs IMHO.

Or a Heritage Head, and a Bergantino NV610 cab.
You can't go wrong with any of the above.

I see Carvin sells in Peru through a dealer. If I were buying blind, I'd get a B2000 head and a BRX4.10 cabinet. That should cover just about any situation.

I'd go a step further and get two BRX10.4's, plus as additional B2000 head for a backup. Then, with the money left over, I'd get a new Carvin SB4000 bass in Walnut with gold hardware and active/passive electronics. Then, with the money leftover, I'd fly to Chicago to see Peter Frampton at Ravinia this July 5th. Then, with the money leftover, I'd buy Jeff7bass a Corona and a shot of Petron for all the great advise!!

:hyper:

I don't know how customs are in Peru but in Brazil that kind of money gets you an SVT head and that's it...

I'd take the GK800RB. Much easier to find in South America and more reliable than any amp out there. And you don't have to mess with tubes and such. GK+Bergantino would be my choice...
