Best rig $3800 budget

OK, forget everything you're read up to this point. You could come in real close to your number with the ultimate rig for your purposes:

Aguilar DB751 and two GS410 cabinets. Amazon has the cabs for $883, so you'd have to round up a DB751 for around $2,000. A used one would work just fine, and you could save a little green. There was one that sold here for $1750 recently.

OK, here you go. Ultimate rig.

-- Preamp is a channel strip. Universal Audio LA-610. One of the most sought after preamps ever followed by the most famous bass compressor of all time.
$1599

-- Pretty much any $600 Power amp. QSC GX7 seems like a sturdy unit.

-- Then the Mesa Powerhouse 1200 cabinet. It's a 1X15 and a 4X10 in one cabinet. $1600

== Just like that. $3800.

I would say go with an Emperor 4x12 18 deep & 2x18 18 deep stack Power it with a Fender Bassman 300 Pro.

If you got the head used and bought the cabs new, you would have around $800 ( or more) left over. If so, you could get Emperor to build matching ATA cases for the rig or buy another bass.

And talk about a doom rig then!

AFAIK, he uses a Spector bass through a GK amp to get his sound. Really don't know if that is the setup he used on STTG, though.

I reckon a Gallien Krueger 2001RB bridged into a fEARful 1515/66 or a pair of 15/6s for modularity / portability ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) would be pretty much unbeatable. 1050W of GK sound into a massively powerful and clear sounding cab.

Ron Anchak at Anchak Audio Works or Robby Hoinsky from Art of Noise could probably do a custom fEARful for you. Leland at speakerhardware.com sells kits for the fEARfuls, so if you don't mind a little DIY you can save some money. Maybe enough for a Spector bass...

And a quote from the FAQ: "A 15/6 is as loud as most 310 cabs with one watt input, and more extended in response. With a lot of watts it can get as loud or louder than a 610 driven to its limits, and will sound fuller and more responsive while doing it."

You'll never need another rig, IMHO.
