BTW

JGR's amp is probably the best full-on bass amp I've ever played. Uber clean or saturated tube sound. Functional eq---like eq you would find in a Pultec or Neve board. Power that will settle the argument---"digital power amps can't have the impact and control of a class a/b amps" Slam, control, warmth, and visceral impact. And headroom for days. We were slamming it for hours and it barely got warm. 4 or 8 ohms. Stable into 2.67 ohms. Time to get Jonathan out of his day gig.

Pete's basses are the most astounding basses I've ever played. Time to sell the house and car.

Couple of other things worth mentioning - I got to hear Mark and Pete playing the Glock micro through the 4x6, and it was a very beautiful sounding combination. I could see that rig appealing to a lot of folks.

Also, with the 112, it has a fairly low impedance for an 8 ohm cab, so combined with good sensitivity, you can really pull a lot of volume of of whatever head you are using,
and I think this will be a good thing, especially for the folks using micros. The room we shot the videos in was a pretty big space, and it was very easy to fill it up. Mike observed that we were on the verge of overloading the room. So I think a decent micro and the 112 really could meet most folk's volume needs. And of course a pair would be pretty devastating. I can't comment for other styles of music, but I think the 12 is definitely the "rock" cab of the line.

Had my first band rehearsal on electric with the 26 powered by the WA. MTD Grendel 5 w/hibeams. Bright for sure. I can now hear the source of the "better for electric" comments regarding the 6.5 series. Deep, muscular, and clear. I like it, and still like it for the eub, but im curious about the comparison vs the new 4x 5.5, which presumably has more of the mids coming from the woofer and being fed through the vortex.

I still can hardly believe how good the 210 sounds with the Monique 700.
I must confess after hanging with Mike I want a 112 and 46 as well!

Oh, that old thing? That's just my frequency independent virtual compression labyrinth horn speaker system, its a Manipulate Vortex Waveguide or MVW for short. Designed my Mike Arnopol Soundworks under license form Big E loudspeaker technologies....On a serious note, that thing throws out some serious notes. It's like being in the trunk of a rappers car, and apparently works kinda like a jet engine.

I had Mike Arnopol over last week as he was visiting family in the area and we Geeked out with cabs and amps....
I though I would share my thoughts as to the Big E cabs as they stand currently...
MAS 112: Uber easy shlep and very damn loud for its size! Overall lovely and pronounced in the midrange with unreal impact from the woofer.
The hi end is smooth and extended. I am really impressed with the unit! It seems like the perfect balance of fidelity volume and portability for the working player.
MAS 210 Flex Mod: This is my favorite by a small margin subjectively. We compared the 210 I have and the new Mod and I feel the midrange integration is improved
with whatever the little devise the Big E guys have added to the back of the woofers. Overall the Flex Mod is elegant and 3 D with such a nice little bump in the upper bass/ Lower mid. I find this cab is my Ideal but could play a 112 any day and be quite happy. There is something happening with the vortex loaded mids that I find compelling though. My experience with the 210 flex is like a giant studio monitor that you can hear all over the stage.
MAS 46: I was very surprised at the improvement Mike made in the midrange of this little beast! The relationship between the mid and low frequencies is seamless and the
low end extension is freakish for such small drivers? I feel this is the ultimate small gig cab.
At the end of the day I may end up with all three of these cabs to cover all my gigs and moods.....
I feel Mikes cabs are the pinnacle of current bass reproduction technology and it has been a pleasure to watch the evolution of these speakers.
