Hey Ryan, this is way off-topic, but is your username an homage to Zappa's "Green Rosetta"?

IMO, Mike is not 'super' human, but diligently using and improving the gifts his creator gave him. Since the unpaid assistant never materialized, the the web site is going to be a huge blessing! :D

Hey Spiritbass (or anyone else who has one)--

How has the Flex110 been treating you lately?

Since Mike announced he will be making them so they add up to a Flex210 with the 110 sub, I'm right on the verge of taking the Flex110 plunge.

Which cabinets were you using before?

It continues to make me sound better than I really am. ;) It continues to 'force' me to play with the best technique possible. It rewards good playing with amazing clarity and detail of every nuance of what you 'put into it'. After reading and re-reading all of the information on MVW speakers, I thought the 110 Flex might be overkill for the space I play in, but that fear prove to be unfounded. It's a very satisfying cab that delivers every time. The cab I was using before the Flex was a Baer ML-112. I came to the Baer through Acme and AccuGroove. The AG Tri-112L was for years, my sonic standard. If I were still 'playing out', I would have a modular 210 Flex. :cool:

It's really flexible, can be a bit confusing to the new user, so many tonal options. I've had trace Elliot, GK, mark bass, and the 9.2 sounds as good as anything. My only slight gripe is the knobs. Beautiful aluminum silver units, but there are very hard to see in a dark room. I'm looking for replacements.

Can't wait to try the 109 out with it!

I'm also coming from the ML-112 world. It's a GREAT cabinet, but I'm looking for something that is a small one-cab solution for small to medium gigs. The Baer is a somewhat limited in handling the B string without going 2 x 112 (which is divine, but 2 cabs). Care to do a little comparison?

I can't say if the 110 Flex will handle your volume requirements. Mike compares the SPL capabilities of the 110 Flex to a conventional cabinet based on a "super" 15" driver. Before I sold the ML-112, I did a short side-by-side with it and the 110 Flex. With the Flex, I felt like I was finally hearing what notes on a B string should sound like. A conventional cabinet just can't compare. The bloom/boom/pillow effect (take your pick) of even the best conventional cab is not present in the Flex. I'm used to hearing cabs with dedicated mid drivers, but I have never heard detail and nuance delivered like the Flex can. The Ciare tweeter is the sweetest I've ever laid ears on. The Flex is absolutely the most revealing cabinet I've experienced. If your technique is sloppy or your bass isn't set up properly, you will hear it. If you and your bass are good to go, you will amaze yourself and your fellow musicians at how good you're sounding. I hope this helped. :cool:

Thanks, spiritbass. You said just about exactly what I was hoping to hear. I'm going to be spending a lot of time in London and Shanghai over the coming couple years, so I am after a small single cab solution to cover my jazz hits. This may just be it. I can always add the 110 sub, and I still have the Baers at home in Boston.

I don't think I have one in the Netherlands yet. I'll check. I know there are some in France, Belgium, Austria, UK, Norway, Italy--I think Spain and Germany but I'm not sure. I'll let you know.

Man, the Flex is in Norway---that's the one I want you to hear!

Norway is not around the corner for me :ninja: but I do have friends who live in Finland.

Rainy day practice session with the 46 using my WW green stereo and Skjold Catacomb 5.


I've been packing up some other cabs that I've sold . I played them before packing to make sure their are no issues. I finally was able to sit down to practice using the 46 and I've got to say how impressive the cab is. A significant difference in the articulation, clarity, force, and projection of the 46 compared to the other cabs. No one is home so I was able to crank up the volume. The low notes are thunderous !

Don't get me started. Steve was talking about that to me yesterday. I'm careful when I talk to Steve about ideas. The next thing he's up until 4 am designing it.

These are in the future but Steve was talking about a little practice setup just like that.
