Biggest jerks in music

My JLL story...went to see him at an in store performance. Brought along one of his Sun 45's for an autograph and a cigar to give to him for his upcoming birthday. After the performance he was sitting in the front passenger seat of an SUV waiting for his driver. I went up to his closed window, held up the 45 and a pen and asked for an autograph. He feigned an inability to be able to roll down the window. Though disappointed, I still held up the cigar I brought for him and BOOM!, the window came right down. He still wouldn't autograph the single. A couple of weeks later I did get the autograph when he performed on the Today Show (where I was working).

You should've brought two cigars. A good Cuban, and the exploding joke kind. After the window magically opened, guess which one he would have gotten.

I worked with a limo driver who had the contract to drive music acts to and from a major outdoor concert venue in Boston area. He said to this day he found Robert Plant to be the most pompous,arrogant ass he ever drove. And I hate to say it because I love Led Zepplin. Given the nasty attitude Plant always has toward JP Jones the story doesn't surprise me.

Heard that mrs Griffin split up from mr Griffin in recent years (mr Griffin was what Robert Plant was liked to be called, due to not revealing his real name) due to just this. The way I've heard is that while Robert can appear nice in public, his managers demeanor (Peter Grant) rubbed him the wrong way and got contaminated. His humour is way way esoteric, and introvert and he gets nasty when no one gets the joke. What artists come across like in public, may be quite different when the spotlight is off. I do remember one thing, that ex-Marillion singer Fish (reaching above 6 feet tall, and tubby too) didn't need no lifeguard, and could put hecklers in the audience silent. And if it came to altercation, the real scotsman where too proud to turn a duel down. He could be incredibly brusque, immature, and whatnot in interviews, and being not so nice to his bandmembers too. But he mellowed down too. He's 65 something now...but he's a little too obscure by now to make any racket among jerks anyway.

whatever, country music television needs to be stopped!! Honestly, I dont know any of their names, but I saw this music video with this bassist who set a really expenisve looking bass on fire, in the same video he played over 5 different basses. this man singlehandedly ruined my country-experiences! so there

I didn't know there was tension btwn Robert and JP. What was it? Then again I don't recall ever seeing then interact.

He sat the alone seemingly waiting to be recognized as concertgoers entered. As I entered I thanked him for his musicianship with Zappa and expressed that I enjoyed it. He shook his head silently and glared at me. What a total dick!

With that response, I would have tagged it with "...but I liked Tom Fowler better" and walked on.

I don't understand the whole "this guy seems like a jerk" thing.

The nicest, most down to earth musician I ever met was Stevie Ray Vaughn. That dude was a genuinely nice, humble guy.
