If he knows a good way to stabilize it, real tortoise shell position markers would be a really unique touch and I haven't seen anything like that, ever. I think it would be best on Wenge, Ebony or Maple.

Not sure how real tort would sit with Scott .....doesn't seem to be a fan of animal products. Then again....who knows.

I didn't mean that he has to kill one to get the shell, but I would imagine they still try to cross roads with varying degrees of success.

A small update to my antique inspired bass. It is no longer a custom build, but a heavily modified Fusion. Everything else is the same.

Blackwashed Mahogany body, neck, and headstock. Ebony fretboard, black hardware, and a varitone.

You know, I'm not exactly sure, I asked Scott the last time I talked to him and he couldn't remember. It looks like the body wings are Ash maybe? But they use a lot of native woods, so who knows.....

Hey Darthbatman. I'm happy to offer some help here. Tell me about what strings you have & some details on the setup of your bass...neck relief, string height, pickup type & placement, etc....I know the Birdsongs well & might have some pointers for you.
