Just got off the phone with Scott (after a 2+ hour conversation) about a custom build. We are going for an antique look, like an old grandfathers clock. The bass will be an Odyssey body, with the butt end coming to a point like on the Skyrider model. Mahogany body with a maple/mahogany neck (like the current 9th anniversary model, but with mahogany instead of walnut) and a matching mahogany headstock. Scott is going to blackwash everything to give it that nice antique look. Ebony fretboard, single fusion pickup in the neck position, and a volume/varitone setup to round out the instrument.
Scott is such a great guy, and I can't wait to see this thing take shape over the coming months.
I told Scott that I was ordering an instrument in 2013, but wanted it to look like something from 1913. He seemed to really dig that, and even talked about doing some custom inlay at the twelfth fret to help give it the look of an older, antique instrument.
