Just jumped on this Odyssey. Zebra wood wings, ash center, maple neck, ebony fretboard, Lace Sensor pickups. Can't wait until it arrives. It'll be my first Birdsong.

Beautiful. Yeah Greg seems like a nice guy. I ended up getting it for $1650 shipped.

I responded to one of Scott's posts on FB about how I'm expecting my new to me fretless Odyssey and he kindly sent me some build pictures from way back when.

So I bought some Dunlop Flat short scales for my 31" Odyssey and they were too short, even when top loading. The string wrap extended onto the fretboard. So I bought another set not realizing I bought regular long scale, not medium. Did I screw up again? I know that there's a good chance the unwrapped part of the string may wrap onto the post slightly. Actually the chromes it came with have that going on now.

Do any of you guys use Dunlop flats and what scale did you get? I really don't want to have to spend more money on strings.

I’ve always used regular scale strings. I believe that’s what Scott uses.

Regular meaning long scale.

Likewise - I've never used the Dunlop strings, but with long-scale D'Addario Chromes, I'm still willing to string through the body (despite the awkward break-angle over the saddles).

I have Birdsongs with long scale chromes, labella flats in various varieties, and TI flats.....and all of them work fine.

I just verified with Scott and he said regular scale 50-105 chromes is what they all leave the shop with.

Scott is in love with chrome's...and I like them....especially on a fretless. But sometimes they're just to damn bright on a fretted bass when you're going for that thumpy sound. Try Labellas....the tension is high, but they sound awesome.

My latest addition. loved my fretless Corta bass from Scott so much I had him build me a fretted C bass. Texas mesquite complete with mesquite beetle bore holes. Once on a while one of those little buggers pops it’s head out and gives me a wink

Some of mine are like that ....never caused me any problems.
