I don't think it's possible for Scott and crew to make a bad bass. Everything that comes out of their shop is beautiful. They are true artists.

Hey All, I've been lurking around here for a while and finally decided to get off my butt - here's 8C-136, an inventory Corto that I bought a short time ago from Scott and Jamie. Basically stock except for a drop tuner. Now if I could get those Rob Allens off my mind...
Thanks! It's also a little different in that it doesn't have a "zero" fret like most Cortos. Not sure why that is, but it was easy to pick out in the client pictures!
I know why you don't have a zero fret. The batch of necks that came in Summer of '06 were the first with a 2-way-truss rod, but didn't have zero frets. Scott used them at the time (including for my Cortofusion prototype - hence why I know the background and timing), but put them aside when a batch with the zero frets arrived.
Since then, the non-zero fret necks get used for inventory builds.

I'm new to Talkbass and playing the bass for that matter (only been playing for a little over a year). I'm definently interested in becoming a member of the Birdsong Club...give me a number please!
I got my Cortobass #111 in December of 2007 and find myself many times just staring at it before playing. It is an amazing instrument. Actully, every pic I've seen of all the basses made by Birdsong are amazing.
I've only spoken to Scott once via the phone and the rest of the time via emails. He is such a nice, down to earth guy. I have always gotten super fast responses to all of my questions.
If you are interested in a great bass or perhaps the finest bass available then I suggest you definently buy a Birdsong. Even if you've never played a short scale or prefer the standard 34" scale I would still get one just for the tone and the quality.
Just tried to upload pic of my Cortobass but it is too large. I'll have to take another one and upload it later.

Heya heya fellow Birdsongers.
I just got in a little bit ago from a wonderful weekend spent out in Wimberley with Scott and Jamie. I had the time of my life, and Jamie mentioned there being a Birdsong thread on TalkBass so I figured I'd check it out. Looks like you all have been busy bassers posting all kinds of gorgeous photos. I'll post a couple shots on here as well, but my photography skills are quite poor. No camera can do these instruments justice, though, so I guess it's alright. ;-) I'm the proud owner of Cortofusion #5, 8F-005, and in a year or so I will be welcoming home a Hy5. 'Fusion 5, the Panda Bass, is very much so my main instrument and I love it with all my heart. It's got a walnut body with two ebony stringers, ebony pickup cover and faceplate, walnut arrowhead truss rod cover, cherry/ebony thumbrest, cherry nut, and some beautiful woodburning in various places on the neck. Scott and Jamie, who are indeed very busy gnomes, asked me to send their love and thanks, of which I am certain they have an infinite supply. They are some of the absolute best people I know, and it is an honor to have spent my time with them. My thanks and love to them and all of you for supporting such a truly wonderful family of folks, of which you all are certainly a part.

P.S. That's me looking goofy as usual in that youtube video that Scott put on the Birdsong News page. Truly an honor. Also, I live in Atlanta, Georgia and would love to meet up with any and all Birdsongers in the area. How bout it, Ben?
