Bizarre things people say during practices

I remember I was at my friend's house for practice. I was there about 2 hours, and I suddenly felt the need to yell something random. It basically ended up like this:

Him: ..So yeah, you need to make sure you practice every day if you want to make yourself a good bassist.

Me: Yeah, yeah.

Him: You said you want to be like Flea right? You have to earn it.

Me: Go make me sandwich.

Him: Umm, what?

Me: Make me a sandwich in the kitchen.

Him: ...

Me: Make me a sandwich.

Him: Okay.

So basically we went downstairs and I watched him make me a grilled cheese with my arms crossed in the kitchen.
Normal day for us.

Last night at practice while playing Cat Scratch Fever for the first time as a band, the drummer/keyboardist said to me that I was starting the run in G instead of A. To which I played it again showing him I started with an A note. He said, "I am watching your hand and you are playing a G note." I said, "Yes, but I start the run on the A." I hate when somebody is condescending and insisting I am doing something wrong when I am doing it right. The funny thing is he is the person who told me the notes in the first place since we were just messing around with the song and he said he already knew it and then said I was starting it wrong. Go figure.

Last night we have a vocal rehearsal and we were talking about putting together an acoustic set, and maybe getting an acoustic bass, then a little while later between songs I turned to our band leader, who has a PA and guitars and amps all over his garage, and I say, "you know, I've been battling a bout of GAS lately, maybe I'll pick up an inexpensive acoustic bass". He gives me the most absolute weirdest look, so I said, "you realize, GAS stands for Gear Acquisition Syndrome", and then he started cracking up.

I guess he never heard the term before (which I found surprising since he has massive amounts of gear, but that initial look he gave me was priceless :roflmao:

Filled in for a friend when their guy quit for a few weeks. Bear in mind, I normally play in a disco band. They had arranged one song to go directly into another with a little drum and bass thing while the keyboardist grabbed his acoustic guitar.

Keyboardist: "Ok, we will all stop playing after this little solo bit. You and (drummer) need to do something really funky! Then, I'll signal when to start the next song."

The break comes and I start playing a variation of "Rumpofsteelskin" by Parliament. Tossing in a quick pop or two.

Band stops playing......

Keyboardist: "What was that all about?"

Me: "You said play something funky."

Keyboardist: "I wanted you to play WHITE PERSON funky, not BLACK PERSON funky!"

Me: ....................................

Yeah, when they asked me to join, I declined......

Most bizarre thing I've ever heard during practice and one of the most bizarre things I've ever heard period was as follows:

[Mobile phone rings. Lead guitarist picks up.]

LG: Hey honey! What's up?

[LG looking more concerned]

LG: Wait, wait, wait. WHAT?!

[LG gesticulating wildly and developing super angry expression.]

LG: WHO TOOK A poopie IN [his kid's] EASTER BASKET?

Keyboardist: "Ok, we will all stop playing after this little solo bit. You and (drummer) need to do something really funky! Then, I'll signal when to start the next song." **********

Keyboardist: "What was that all about?"

Me: "You said play something funky."

Keyboardist: "I wanted you to play WHITE PERSON funky, not BLACK PERSON funky!"
I laughed at first, but then started trying to think of something that would fit that description and really laughed. Duelling Banjos might work.

I've only ever been in bands that use onomatopoeias to communicate:
Singer: Drummer Do that Dundundund Boom Tchrack thing again.

Guitarist: Bassist, what was that BAWMP-PLAP- thing you did? Try it again.

Me: So are we playing an F major key in C mixolydian?
Guitarist: No, we're playing it C major, but on that one note, instead of going Dring, we go drang.
Me: So F major...

At church band practice we were doing a bunch of random little covers when suddenly

BL:We should play Stacy's Mom!

Electric Guitarist: *starts singing*

Youth pastor:Pretty sure we shouldn't play that in a church

Meanwhile I was googling the bass tabs...
