Double Bass Blast cult

Damon, just out of curiosity, how much does your favorite acoustic (if possible carved) double bass weigh?

I just weighed my Alcoa and it (with it's current array of Deuce bridge, Deuce taipiece, quiver, bow & Pops, Vic's Model C, K&K Dual Channel Pro ST pre-amp, dual mono channel splitter, adjustable 4-footed sound post, hinged trap door) weighs in at 28 pounds, which I'm guessing is at least little heavy.
My old Romanian flatback is on the smaller side. According the the bathroom scale it is just under 25 pounds.

In the last post of page 23, VictorW123 asks (I think) why there was a Blast Cult bass on display. The display bass is a touring veteran instrument owned by Djordge, who also gave a playing demonstration on the Blast Cult booth. Does that answer VictorW123's question?
Yes. Now I understand.

Speak for yourself there hoss.
Ok. And... Then it remains for me to say that over the past 300 years there have been no improvements at all. (Before the advent of Blast Cult, obviously. Now the chronology of evolution is: Bass Viola - Double Bass - Blast Cult. :meh:)

Either the sarcasm of my post went over your head, or the sarcasm of your post went over mine.

The discussion on this thread has certainly been all over the place, but also very helpful in general. Either it says something about me, or something about the Blast Cult bass that in spite of the noise about the company I went out and bought a used 145. But that is not the point I wanted to make. I just wanted to contribute a drop of some real information in this sea of opinion:

I had a question about some upgrade work to be done on my bass. I e-mailed Blast Cult through the address on their web site. I received an email acknowledging receipt of the e-mail, and the following day I received a complete answer to the question I asked. I was given some good information to help with addressing the issue locally, and I was given the option to return the bass to BC for doing the work.

In my opinion the market for this type of bass will continue to exist. Jason Brown is now in a position to shepherd Blast Cult into continuing its role as a leader in the market. I look forward to future contacts with the company being helpful and pleasant ones.

It just had to mention the deuce bridge. I feel like I’m the only person that doesn’t like that thing. LOL!!

No, I can guarantee you aren't the only person who doesn't like them... For whatever reasons. You don't have to feel bad about that.

I like mine, but this is my first double bass and I've never dealt with a standard bridge, so my testimony is only based on this one experience. I think it's good to read other people's opinions and experiences.
