Let the kids play. It took guts to get up on stage in the first place. Blast them with internet shaming and they may never play again. Let them play, and let them suck, and they can keep playing until they figure it out and don't suck, and then watch out. So some kids have already figured it out at this age. Well, good for them. Doesn't mean these kids won't figure it out tomorrow.

By the way, there's a video interview with the Worst Band in the World. They're under no delusions of grandeur. Actually, you have to admire their spirit. Not that I want to sit through a gig with them, but they're loving what they do.

I've seen this before. I've always wondered about those things. Try find ANY YT video flick of the original band, official video, that has as many klicks as this one. Find this very peculiar. It's because people wants to have that laugh. You don't laugh as much at the original.

This.

I was a private music instructor for about 12 years. IME, most people are not natural musicians at an early age. They are just not yet aware of the finer details of music. Their potential is often buried deep inside, and they need advice, grooming, and experience for it to rise to the surface.

The girl with the pink guitar learned the song pretty close to "correct," but she's either tuned way different or she learned it in a different key from the guitar player, and that's why you hear what sounds like "bad notes" all over the place. And, of course, the rhythm is wonky without a designated time-keeper.

Again, I fault the adults in their world for not at least sitting in on a rehearsal or two and offering some much-needed direction.

I would blame their teacher for not helping them with the tuning of the guitars. And the person that let this video out.

About that Dave Grohl quote...I've never watched those talent shows, but I'm under the impression that it's usually people who want to become singers and they're usually singing pop songs. I don't think kids who want to start rock bands are in danger of thinking American Idol is the way to go.

Insanely good for their age. Grooming, without a doubt. Kids this age do not get that good without the guidance of an experienced adult.

This reminds me of the typical "School Of Rock" fare in my neighborhood. If you want a total kick in the head, take in one of these "end of semester" concerts sometime. You will see what very young musicians can do when the standards and expectations are in place and they get coaching from experienced musicians.

A lot of adult cover bands in my neighborhood could learn a lesson from that approach.
