lol, this video always puts a smile on my face. There are cover bands in my neighborhood that can't play it half as good. And they get booked. And they get paid. It sure is a funny world we live in.
The saddest part is they didn't have any advice and guidance from someone with a little experience to offer. I think the main problem is the two guitars are simply playing the song in different keys.

Well, for their "credit" they are all stoned as $$$$. The other video, I don't think the people are....
Well I remember how many days went into my first live gig. I was frozen stiff to play one song that was not suitable for the event we were asked to play at. But it was at their request. I then remember how much time it took to feel comfortable in front of people. I hate being the center of attention. That's kinda the reason I play bass and not drums or guitar or singing. In the comfort of my room that's okay but not elsewhere. I'm sure they didn't really have guidance or a musical background, but for them to be up there at what seems like a community talent show or something I think they did quite well. That makes a huge difference.
As for the group of the worst band ever... Well I have seen a few bar gigs where the band seemed to be made up of people who were going through a 12 step rehab program or something where they were up there because it was something new they wanted to do. They were awful but had a blast! And it was fun to watch. These guys just seem underprepared. They don't really know the music and you can't really expect much out of a group that does that. Interestingly enough the singer was trying to being the tempo back to where it needed to be and even though he was enthusiastic I don't think the other players were ready. But cudos for trying

I think the OP video is hilarious, endearing, pathetic, and even touching.
I think it's perfectly fine to laugh at the performance. Just so long as when you do laugh at those kids, the last thing one should tell them is they don't have a future playing music. Puuuuhleeeze -- who the hell are you again? Only the wunderkinders can play instruments? Sheesh, many of us folks didn't pick up an instrument (let along a stringed instrument) until we were full-grown adults. I wouldn't even ridicule that adult band. They're probably weekend warriors who never get enough time to practice together, or they're drunk or stoned... so what? The performance is painfully inept... I say that alone is what makes those videos charming. Keep plugging away dudes!
It may not seem like it, but the three comedians in that SCTV clip I posted (Moranis, Candy and Levy) were quite proficient on their instruments. It's a testament to their comedic and musical talent that they can pull off a totally believable performance of a pre-teen band doing a cheesy song. They certainly were inspired to capture the adventure of a bunch of kids using the opportunity to play for an audience, even if it's only Melonville local television.

The kids that got it right not withstanding.. I can still cut the kids in the OP some slack.. We don't know how long they have been playing.. or what they have access too.. It is obvious that the other two kid bands we saw... those kids have access to some good gear and have probably been at it for a spell.. In fact some of those kids have better gear than some of the folks here on TB.. but those adults... with that Pink Floyd hack job... YIKES..! No excuse for that... I would be too embarassed to get up there if that was all I could do..

The intonation on the guitars is all over the place. I think you would be totally surprised how much better they would sound if the guitars had a proper set up and were tuned.

Think what the kids in the video in the OP could do if they had as much support, grooming, professional production, etc. - as the Toolkids above.
Not a knock on anyone: it takes mucho cajones to get up on a stage, regardless of your skill level, training, production, etc. - at a young age. While the tuning, arrangement, etc. - is....whatever - the fact that KIDS got up on stage to perform in front of people, instead of InstaFacebookGramming their latest Xbox escapade is encouraging.
We can laugh, cringe, whatever - but we should always encourage and support each other, and especially kids, when it comes to music.
(yeah, I cringed. mostly because I remember my first time on stage. 'You Really Got Me' at the 10th grade talent show. *shudder*)
