Gain staging is so important. Few ideas I use to keep things clean with the AIRD Preamp and Distortion Block.

- When I boost the Gain parameter, I cut the the Level.
- When I boost the EQ, I cut the Level
- I keep the Gain SW off. It's basically post EQ Gain Boost.
- The Solo SW is kept off. I don't have any soloing spots.

The same idea applies to the DS Effects Block. All Level parameters in all Effects Block are set 50 or less. The Patch Level is always set between 80-110, but less is better. I use a Hard Limiter in the Mastering FX block at the end of the chain as a clean boost to get the Patch to the right volume. I think the Hard Limiter is the key here. It's very useful for cleaning up a patch. And the main Output Volume knob is set to 12 O'clock. If I'm using high gain effects I'll use a Noise Suppressor.

There's the Boss CB-BM-S Carry Case. It fits the GX-10 and GT-1/1B, not designed for GTCore. Dimensions 360W x 220D x 140H mm.

Thanks - yeah, had come across this one as you say not designed for the GTCore (and actually quite $$?)
I've gone for a tablet case which will just take the edge of any knocks while it's in my kit bag and sourced from Amazon for £10 / $13.50 which should do the trick for the once a month bar venue when it comes off my board due to needing to travel light!

new iteration of my cover band board (Rockboard TRES 3.0):

Under the hood there is a Broughton BBA as first pedal -> Peterson tuner -> One Control Mosquito Blender. From there it goes into the Cali V1 (18 volts) -> Empress EQ -> VoodooLab Dingbat interface -> FOH/IEM or amp. This is the main finger sound.

The Boss Core is in the One Control Blender's loop for bypass. The SA Spectrum is in the first effects loop of the Boss Core and is setup as Octaver and Enveloppe Filter. I can switch Loop1 of the Boss Core using the CTRL1 footswitch. This allows me to kick in the Spectrum Octave regardless of preset on the Core. ...Still figuring out if I prefer the internal Boss sounds or the SA tones for Octaver and Enveloppe.

The Natural Bass Preamp is just GREAT for overdrive sounds.

The Storm IM2400 case is a great fit for this board.

Sometimes, while singing, I accidentally engage the Core tuner by pressing the UP and DOWN simultaneously. Now, I have the 'output' of the tuner set to THRU, so at least the sound is not cut out.

I would like an update that gives a choice to disengage this 'dual press' (also the dual MANUAL press) and let me switch the effects I have on these switches simultaneously! I could think of other updates that could change the functionality of the Core, for example the push function of the encoders could do something in play-mode!

But of course a new algorithm/effect would be nice too...

I have been looking at the DG Anagram as a successor for my Core, but the Anagram doesn't have the more weird/creative effects I like from Boss ( for example SoundHold, Twister, Slicer ..).

Once the new Boss flagship is introduced it might take another two years to release a smaller (pedal-board friendly) Core version?

Some Boss news. The new GX-1B. Comes with 13 bass and 3 guitar AIRD amps. The GT-1000/Core only has 9. Also has a Bass Synth and 3 types of Limiters. Those colored hexagons are called HEXARAY, which have multiple functions including effect output meter and gain reduction meter for compression. Has Bluetooth to connect to Tone Studio app. 8 simultaneous effect blocks. It's a mono effects signal so no divider/mixer blocks. And no touch screen. There's also the GX-1 for guitar.

Also now has the MuTron iii effect too.

:hyper:

On Thomann.nl there is no such listing, but indeed I see it on Thomann.com .

Oh no, now I will have to reload that page twice a day out of curiosity!
When searching on Sweetwater there is a listing of a bag for the GX-1000, but that is probably a spelling error although it is consistent in the full description.

If there is a GX-1000Bass it better not have a blue casing! : )
