Boss GT 1000Core

I would be happy to purchase digital versions of Boss pedals, so your information was useful. I just am not happy at the idea of doing it via a monthly subscription that would not make economic sense in terms of the cost per amount of use I'd get.

I originally got interested in the GT-1000 after seeing Janek Gwizdala's promotional video for Boss, for the Version 3 firmware, and I realized that the GT-1000 had every feature of my all-Boss bass pedalboard.
I had literally just finished a new redesign of my bass pedalboard the night before the GT-1000Core was announced.
When I did eventually get one, it first went to my guitar board, to replace my chorus, delay, and reverb, because it has almost all the features of the Boss 500 series trinity in 1/3rd the space.
It wasn't until last year that I finally decided to see if the modelling features would work for me. I very quickly realized they did, and am now planning on a 100% digital direct-to-console flyrig guitar pedalboard based around two GT-1000Cores, four FS-7 footswitches, and my trusty Digitech FreqOut.
As for bass, my needs are simpler, and the Core gets it all done in one box, aside from the lack of balanced DI outputs, but honestly, I don't feel as much need for the Core on bass, since I only use 6 pedals total on bass, the settings don't change, and I already own them. Still, if I needed to gig on bass with just the Core, I'd have all my needs met and more.
I still will maintain a separate mostly-analogue bass pedalboard, as well as my Boss bass pedalboard with the separate pedals, but for guitar, I'm thrilled with the Core's features, ease of use, sound quality, size, power requirements, and price, backed up by Boss' stellar reputation.
Don't be surprised if you end up ditching your Line 6 gear once you wrap your head around the GT-1000Core. It's really that good.
My only real question about the GT-1000 line is the fact that the Roland BMC silicon—the heart of Roland and Boss' digital gear—is very old, now, and long overdue for an upgrade to a new generation.
It's a testament to Roland's engineers that they consistently produce custom silicon that in my eyes far exceeds the capabilities of other manufacturers who rely on third-party DSP/VLSI/SoC designs.
With the advances that have been made in chip fabs since the BMC first hit the market, their next generation design will be a huge improvement even over what is arguably their current industry-leading platform.
Whatever the GT-1100 or GT-2000 is, I'm sure I will be in line to buy it as soon as I can. The question is, when will that be?

I have spent some time with the unit. So far, not extremely impressed with the sounds I got. But it is my fault because I'm still learning, not the unit. My HX Stomp is still my main multieffects for gigging, just because I know it better and it is much more simpler to use IMO. However, I listen to some of the samples that you put here (like @Krisfield ) and I know I will get a better sound.
The good thing is that I could "recreate" the preset I have in my HX and still have some DSP left. My issue with the HX is that when I do some parallel stuff with amps and cabs I don't have room for many effects. I have it in the BOSS. I'll keep on experimenting

Hey, I'm trying to set one of these 1000 COREs up for recording.
I've got a vintage 65 P Bass.
I normally just mic a tube Ampeg through a 212 cab and record a a direct signal through a vintage ua m610 preamp. I go for a nice fat round rock sound.
I use a GT1000 for guitar and it's great.
But I can't seem to get this 1000Core to sound good yet.
Noise floor seems really high and I've gotta max out the input gain on the core to get it to hit the ideal input volume line before clipping.
How do you guys set this up? I'm not using an active bass.
Do I need to run a compressor or preamp before the core to get the input in at a better volume?

What I usually do for bass patches is:
• Set the patch to bass mode
• Master output set to 12:00
• Add a compressor, reduce the ratio to 4:1 (no idea why the default is infinity), tweak other settings
• Use an EQ as an HPF
• Turn up the NR a little bit
• Turn off the reverb
• Tweak the EQ for the specific instrument
Keep in mind that some of the compressors significantly boost the signal when on their default settings.
I usually stick to VSTs for amps, rather than use the Core. Concert should work OK though.

when you say set the patch to "bass mode" what do you mean? i thought there were just bass amps? and bass configured presets?
i'm wondering how to deal with this noise floor given the vintage p bass isn't hitting the input with much juice. i've got to have the input gain on the core all the way up +20db.
ah i see bass mode in the master block. it's already on in the bass presets.
I didn't know about this bass feature (and I must admit that it took me a while finding it). I will try it on today in the rehearsal. Actually. I will try the Core for the first time today

You could try a Factory Reset

- Navigate to Factory Reset: Use the cursor buttons to navigate to the "FACTORY RESET" option.
- Select Reset Type: Press the knob corresponding to "FACTORY RESET" (often knob 4) to select it.
- Choose Settings to Reset: Use the knobs (usually knobs 1 and 5) to select the desired reset range, such as FROM: SYSTEM - TO: STOMPBOX or FROM: SYSTEM - TO: SYSTEM. You can also choose a full reset or reset specific areas.
- Confirm the Reset: Press the WRITE button, then press the knob (usually knob 5) to confirm the selection and initiate the reset.
- Cancel Reset (Optional): If you need to cancel the reset, press the EXIT button or the knob corresponding to "CANCEL".
- Backup User Data: Before performing a factory reset, use Boss Tone Studio for GT-1000 to back up any custom patches or settings you want to keep.
- Factory Reset Options: You can choose to reset specific settings (e.g., system settings only) or perform a full reset that will erase all user data and settings.
- Firmware: A factory reset will not affect the GT-1000's installed firmware version.
Testing it for the first time. At first I was told that there was a huge noise (and I heard it), so for half of the rehearsal I used the HX Stomp. The second half I tried again and it wasn't the pedal. Anyway, so far, I like it. I cannot say it is much better or worse than the HX Stomp. What I can say is that it is not that intuitive. But I like it. I will keep testing.

The method you told me above may also be a solution,
but I think the error I suspect is an issue with the sudden change of the gain/volume setting value of the amp block
I simply know that factory reset erases the presets
I will leave the information when I get a reply about the daily later.
A thing that I've been also thinking about a lot lately. I have always been a fan of Line 6 and I love my HX Stomp. I have friends who use the Helix, the Quad Cortex, the Kemper, the Headrush and even the Hotone. There are always discussions about updates. In the Line 6 forums we are always (yes, me too) asking for more effects, more amps, more and more... However, I bought the Boss knowing (or thinking) that there won't be any update in the future. It is as it is. And it sounds as good as the top ones which are updated regularly.
Well, for what it is worth the Boss got more processing power than the Line 6 Stomp, and the Hotone Stomp more than both of these two, plus unlike the Boss and Line 6 the Hotone it is now compatible with NAM captures.
