"This idea" emerged from: that i like the octave effect and some (digital) drive.
which is very unexpected. ( i have otherwise a nice tube-pre setup, consisting of several tube-pres in chain) But i´m mainly in need for a some nice envelope filter action.

i have to decide on this "bevore" the Core is back in stock.......not possible to check both side by side

I got the C4 to deal with synth and filter sounds alongside the Core.

Can second that. Owned an HX Stomp until this week, but I could do with the Core in minutes what took hours of fiddling with the Stomp, so the Stomp had to go. While the bass-specific selection is limited, the (multi-band) "X" comps/drives/amps in the Core are just a step above what the Helix offers. They sound awesome with a full-range signal, no fiddling involved.

I'm thinking the Core is quite underrated partly due to Boss not being overly concerned with fidelity to real-world amps. If your main concern is how close the "Concert" preamp is to an SVT, you're probably better off with some other unit, Boss simply doesn't play that game.

how is the core in regards to octaver sounds ?....combined -or not- with some distortion
i guess it would be very good on this ?

is creating sounds on the Core as quick and as straight forward as is with the C4/spectrum ? (after some initial familiarisizing)

( i´ve read thru this thread, iirc the whole, but there has been so much other information in other regards in the meantime)

I found the CORE editor far easier the the C4/Spectrum editor. I find that editing on the CORE pedal itself is the easiest for me.

I think the Core pitch effects in general are okay, I'm happy with them, but that's a very personal subject! The Core is very easy to work with whether you use the device itself, or the editor. I started off using the editor a lot, but I got bored with hooking it up to the computer all the time. Editing on the Core is more about routing and chaining effects, while the C4 is more about sound design. Of course the C4 pedal has virtually no interface at all, so you're forced to edit in the software, and really it's not bad!

In a couple of weeks I have a rare visit to a 'proper' rehearsal studio, where they have a mixer and PA, and a large Ashdown rig. I'm only taking part in this jam so I can try my Core based rig through both systems!

I'm lucky in that I get to hear mine through IE's every Sunday, and my Funk band has finally returned to gigging. I love the Core through both the IE's and my old SWR rig! Fine piece of kit here.

Lucky you! I've got the Source Audio C4 in the setup as well, which might tip the scales in favour of the PA, we'll see. I'm going to the try the Core's new limiter to try and keep a cap on the mixed output from the Core and the C4. Naturally, I'll post about the experience!

Are you running the C4 in a loop on the Core?

I think so too. My thoughts were that the Concert AIRD Amp has a more “complex” flavoured SVT tone, and I found myself trying to dial it out. The VT Bass, narrower and more organic. Love both sounds. I’ve kept the VT on my pedalboard. My local guitar shop has a SVT rig in stock. Would like to get a sound sample from it to see how it compares to the Concert Amp.

Going to do another sound clip experimenting with the Concert and VT in series and parallel. Eg, dial out the treble on the VT and boost it in the Concert Amp.

Concert AIRD Amp and VT Bass combined - Parallel and Series.
VT Bass used in the Send 1 Return 1 jacks.

Clip 1
- VT Bass and Concert Amp in PARALLEL (dual divider/mix)
- Ch A: VT Bass MID and GAIN controls boosted. LOW and HIGH controls cut. Send/Return block set to Normal
- Ch B: Concert Amp clean GAIN and MIDDLE control cut. BASS and TREBLE boosted.

Clip 2
- VT Bass and Concert Amp in SERIES. (Ch A)
- VT Bass MID and GAIN controls boosted. LOW and HIGH controls cut. Send/Return block set to Direct Mix.
- Concert Amp clean GAIN and MIDDLE control cut. BASS and TREBLE boosted.
