@MrDinsdale , I have seen on another forum you have eyes on the Capo preamp. I have heard really nice sounds on a demo. I wonder though if you can SWITCH between these sounds because the best sounds might use both sides. Something to consider if you want let go of the Core.
.......

Yesterday my Core didn't start up at a gig. I tried dis/connect the power to the Core, I knew my psu was ok because my SansAmp did light up. Took me half a minute to realize the SA was on phantom power (facepalm..). Somehow the mains got disconnected from my psu during transport haha. There is always a lesson!

During these 30 seconds in my mind I was replacing the Core with some trusty old school Boss gear though .

Hahaha I did the same at a practice where I wasn’t getting any output, had a little panic until I realised I hadn’t plugged my bass in

As for the Capo, the appeal is that it seems to achieve the sound I want but in a single package. Currently I rely on the Model FeT into the two channels of my GK head. I also need to lean on the Core for this because the two channels of the GK have a very different tone and need specific EQ to correct this.

There are just a lot of variables involved and that makes me uncomfortable. It’s also hard to dial in the settings as they’re so reactive and needs a lot of tweaking.

I have quite a lot of gear on the sell list, mostly stuff that doesn’t fit the new band but my preferences have changed a lot over the last year. Namely my Warwick Corvette 5, Model FeT and GT1000core are top of the list, love them all but there are other things I need more right now and don’t have the funds to buy without letting some stuff go. The new band are a bit technophobic when it comes to digital pedals too which doesn’t help

I’ll be in no rush to sell them, if they go they go and if not that’s absolutely fine by me.

Has anyone noticed a lot of hiss when the send/receive loops are on (normal mode)?

I'm getting some white noise when it's turned on, with several different pedals, and even if nothing is plugged into the send/receive.

Are you sure that no compressors or other FX blocks are on?

Turn all blocks off, and check your input gain and see if the hiss is still there

I turned every block off, including SR loop, no hiss at all. Turn on SR and there is a slight hiss, you would't hear it unless volume is way up or you're listening for it. If I put an EQ or distortion after it, then that substantially amplifies the hiss.

Anyone else waiting for Boss/ Roland to put in the other Amp models found in the sy1000?

While they're at it, can they give us the choice to exchange two delays for just one more Fx block? Also, maybe allow for all chorus or reverb options under the "chorus" and "reverb" blocks rather than giving just a few nonsense options under their effects name and having the rest under an fx block. C'mon...

I'm using a matthews futurist as a midi extension to add more use from the Core. Super helpful to use midi to be able to use one distortion block but use the midi commands to switch it to a different flavor of distortion with other midi commands to alter the bottom and drive levels. I could get used to this midi thing for sure.

I wouldn’t put my hopes up too high. Roland is not known for their many or fast updates. Has the GT1000 core ever been updated at all? Not sure.

Heck, I'd be happy if they put in new versions of the amp models found in the GT-10 and the old DR-880 drum machine.

Pardon if this has been asked.

While the Core cannot assign a specific preset to each of the three buttons, can an external Midi controller be set to specific presets on its footswitches?

Yes, I know it can do +1/-1, but can one button jump to Preset 023 and another jump to present 123, etc.?

It doesn’t look like there is any way to do it with assigns, but looks like you might be able to do it with Midi.

If you only need two patches, could set the patch extents to 023 and 123, at which point pressing down at 023 would skip straight to 123 (and vice versa).

The GT-1000(CORE) has a pretty comprehensive MIDI-implementation, so yes, a programmable MIDI controller can be used to send program change messages to the GTK.
