Boss GT-10B

I bought the Boss GT-10B and i was wondering about how to set the input and output levels. So far i just put it in tuner bypass (not mute) and then i set the effects block one by one so that each one does not affect output level. The output level knob is maxed out. The level meters though is between 3rd and 4th line in patch level and in the effects chain meter is rather low between forst and second line. Is this the correct method of setting the levels? Maybe there is a patch that i could probably use to set the levels?
Putting the Tuner into "BYPASS" mode will just send a dry signal through and will "bypass" all the amp setting/EQ, and effects.
The output level knob should ideally be at mid way.

If i put the knob halfway the meters show this:

Is this normal? If i raise the knob the meters raise some more.

Through the chain view though the meters on the upper screen show each effect just after the first line, like this:

But at the end of the chain the amp icon show much more level out like this

The two last photos was with output knob set to max. The volume between tuner bupass and each effect on/off is the same at high volumes.

I am just confused as if i am setting the pedalboard correct. I am using it connected mono to amp's return and the two xlr outs to soundcard with setting of effect/direct.

Any advice would be precious. Thank you in advance for your help

It largely depends on how hard you are driving it..for convenience I run mine as in a loop in my DI..but it doesnt matter...basically i now have it first in line with 2 pedals (A VT Bass and and Aftershock) After the GT, ...to fix your problem, go to 'system' >>input/output....There you will the number 1 tab is input level and presence....
I have such a hot signal i run mine at -12db..and the output level KNOB at about 10 oclock...you can bump this to +2o db if you want...If your effects block is basically set to neutral, this would be your main control..you will also see that you can set for 3 different basses.

I am not sure i understand correctly. You are saying that i should i add some db at input level control to the GT10b so that the effects chain so will raise the level meters at the chain and lower the volume output knob on the device? I don't know if it matters the bass i am using is a Fender Jazz standard Usa 2015 with custom shop 60s pickups.

you 'can' add some extra at the effects for sure, but the main control is system>>input/output...go there and see where the level is set..you can set your output level on the top panel say at noon, and then raise the level on input sect for Bass 1. There should be plenty of gain.
at the moment I am running the gain on the Radial Bassbone only at 12...I mainly use an amp sim of the SVT at moderate gain

Hi there @Reland

I know it's nearly a decade later, and I really hope you are still in touch with this forum. I've just got myself a GT-10B after years of pedals and pedals. I absolutely love it and I'm totally stoked with it, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out the A/B channel select.

The manual is not at all clear on this matter, other than to allude to the fact that yes, you can "split" your signal.

Is there any way that I might impose on you for a little more detail on (a) how the channel selection works [i.e. what can be done with it] and (b) how best to access it? I would be grateful for any assistance you can give me.

Kind regards from Johannesburg... Julian

Reland has not been here since 2010 if you click on your link and look at his stats.

The A/B channel allows you to place you effects in any orderin the chain, there are about 15 items movable in the chain.
The chain splits in the middle to A and B channels/paths, allowing A or B or A&B channels, so you can run effects in parallel too.

I recommend downloading and using the GT-10BFxFloorBoard editor software,
it will give you a stompbox like graphical representation of the GT-10B effects and inner workings,
and lets you edit in real-time too.

You can also load in patches and settings made by others too.

depending on your operating system, you may also need to download the USB driver from the Boss site too.
There is a setting in the GT-10B which requires changing, under SYSTEM midi, DRIVER MODE set to "advanced".

One of the many things you could do is set one channel up clean and the other with od/dist. then add different eq and or compression to bothin equal amounts or one or the other in different amounts based on what you want to hear when you switch.

Gummy -

I have 2 questions about the GT-10B editor.

I have version 20121017 on my Win7 PC and DLed it from the VGuitar forum a few years back.

Is this the current version?
The little screen shot you posted yesterday looks different from my GUI. Makes me wonder if I have your latest and greatest version installed.
The version listed under the versions list at GT Fx FloorBoard - Browse /GT-10BFxFloorBoard at SourceForge.net
shows 20151008 as the current version (08th Oct 2015).

Second question:
How do you clear the TEMP spots under the temp copy and paste buttons currently stored in clipboard? I was messing around trying to figure this function out and accidentally copied some patches in these spots and would like to go back to showing EMPTY. I cannot find any documentation on this function.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Hey Joe !!
The screenshot is actually the GT-100 version from the SourceForge download site, I didn't have a GT-10B screenshot handy.

20151017 is the current version, probably not much different from your earlier 2012 one.
Most of the updates are trying to keep up with the ever changing Mac Osx operating system.

To remove the TEMP clipboard patches, from the program install folder in the C:\ProgramFiles section,
delete the files labelled Temp-1.syx" (the 5 clipboard temp files have a number from 1~5).

Cheers
