Boss GT-10B

Meanwhile nobody is discussing the GT -1B.... :(

I have been lurking the forum to see if anyone was talking about the GT-1B.

I think I'm getting one for Christmas.

I have waited and waited for Boss to come out with a new version of the GT-10B and was hoping for a GT-100B. But I guess Boss doesn't think there is a big enough market for bass players, maybe based on the past poor sales of the GT-10B.

I DLed the manuals (lame as usual for Boss/Roland). I don't like the fact that the GT-1B seems to be a regurgitation of the GT-10B - same old COSM with the addition of a new amp (Little Mark III), battery powered (yeah - you can use a power supply not included), so small and missing a few of the features like Send and Return and has many of the presets the 10B has. I will have to buy a PSA-120S power supply $30 (to me a given) and at least a FS5L - another $30 or a FS-6 at $60 to make it fully functional - I could add on another expression pedal (EV-5 or EV30) if I feel the need because it takes one, even though I got along fine with one EXP pedal on the GT-10B. I do like the free BOSS Tone Studio editor/librarian software that also "provides integrated access to all of BOSS Tone Central's patch collections".

I wish I had the money for a Line 6 Helix but $200 vs. $1500 is a bit hard to swallow. Billy Sheehan is using one now after Line 6 modeled his Pierce Bass preamp. For anyone who cares...

Well that's my first 2¢ on the matter.

COSM means modelling (Boss's own modelling) and just like all other manufacturers, they update their models with every generation, and IMO the GT-1B has really good modelling, better than the Zoom B3n, which as it is has REALLY good modelling. If you have one this time next week, you're in for a treat! Just make sure you get a FS7 footswich and a stereo cable, it gives you two extra switches.

It's nice to know that COSM (Tube Logic) is being upgraded. I thought from reading other forums that Boss was just costing and just installing the same amp modeling to their gear. I guess I've fallen prey to UGLY RUMORS. I've got a lot of Line 6 gear and I guess I picked it up on their forum by a misinformed biased poster. Thanks FuzzzFacetious and Gumtown for setting me straight. We'll see if I get the unit from my wife for a Christmas present. I figure it will take me another $120 to buy the accessories needed to make the unit fully functional (sans another EXP pedal?). That's why I wish Boss had made an upgraded GT-?B so all that stuff would already be included like in the larger older units.

Cheers
Merry Christmas

Reland has not been here since 2010 if you click on your link and look at his stats.

The A/B channel allows you to place you effects in any orderin the chain, there are about 15 items movable in the chain.
The chain splits in the middle to A and B channels/paths, allowing A or B or A&B channels, so you can run effects in parallel too.

I recommend downloading and using the GT-10BFxFloorBoard editor software,
it will give you a stompbox like graphical representation of the GT-10B effects and inner workings,
and lets you edit in real-time too.

You can also load in patches and settings made by others too.

download link here for the free GT-10B software editor:

GT Fx FloorBoard - Browse /GT-10BFxFloorBoard at SourceForge.net

depending on your operating system, you may also need to download the USB driver from the Boss site too.
There is a setting in the GT-10B which requires changing, under SYSTEM midi, DRIVER MODE set to "advanced".
Huge thanks Gumtown. Very cool. I will play around with the software soon!!!

Does anyone know if the GT10b can be used as a midi footswitch for an amp>>specifically the markbass Multiamp S which can use a midi footpedal to change presets?
Sorry - I misread your post. I read the GT-10B as GT-1B which I had been previously commenting on. Sorry - yes sir, the GT-10B most definitely has midi in/out as you know now after reading gummy's post. Sorry to speak before READING!

Who is using the gt-10b in 2019? With the line 6 hxfx and other units, just curious how the boss unit is keeping up
I still use it primarily as a fast volume control for switching basses and various pickup settings....as I like to drive the tubes at a specific level...Rarely use effects for bass, and its effects arent that great anyway....great volume pedal, great switching, very rugged..

I would disagree that the effects are not very good. They require proper setup and adjustment, but for playing with a band, they are more than sufficient.

In 2019 I use mine all the time.
Well I've been using it for 8 years and most effects in a live band situation for Bass are nothing to write home about..It is a very useful tool though getting pretty dated..my pedals come and go, but I keep this one and haul its big ass around.

I still use my GT-10B, I love it! Have had it for ~7 years and it's a must for our band set up, wish they still sold it. I use it's Limiter functionality with each patch I set up (4 different guys in the band play my bass, some with picks, so the Limiter helps control their volume), and we use 3 patches I made -- a basic "normal" one, the basic patch with Chorus, and basic with Chorus & Delay (for things like New Order songs). We gig 50+ times a year and its at every show; it's been bullet-proof.
