While I disagree with some of your other points in this thread, this is spot on. Professional athletes have the pull they do because few can do it and many are willing to pay to watch it being done. Hating Favre or anyone who holds out won't change this aspect of professional sports, but indifference would. As this thread demonstrates, however, I don't think that's possible.

It's between him and the team. WITH him, they are a Super Bowl contender. Without him, they are not. Gee, I wonder if they should try to get him to play?

You'd never see him in black and gold either. Payton wouldn't deal with a drama queen on the team...plus, they're spoiled by having a truly great leader at the position, an actual team player.
So I guess you're a GB fan....obviously GB wouldn't take him back; they forced him out in the first place. GB had their fun with Farve, and they're tired of him. Understandably. But when he signed with the Jets, and later with the Vikes, I didn't hear any of their fans complaining. I doubt I'd see anything different if he goes to another team.
They traded him to the Jets. He didn't want to go there. He wanted to go to the vi- queens to kick the Packers and all their fans in their johnsons. The Packers knew he wouldn't beat Rodgers out in pre season, so the foiled his plan to go there by trading him to the Jets. That's why they put the 3 first round pick clause in the trade with the Jets, so they couldn't trade him to the queens. Of course, Favre played the little charade in NY, playing like crap at the end of the season, knowing they would release him if he did so, so he could go back to his original plan and go to the baggy dome. Of course, retiring again was part of that plan. He had to convince the Jets he was done so they'd release him for nothing. He's a crying, whining 3 year old, who will do anything to get his way, and can't BELIEVE when someone doesn't just give him whatever he wants (Kinda like Rapelisberger...but different). When he doesn't get what he wants, he schemes, and uses the media to feed his ego.
Screw the queens . They can go through the drama with the drama queen every year. They have MAYBE one year left with the diva. The Packers are set with an All Pro QB for the next ten years.

The author can be awfully sarcastic and unfair at times, and parts of this article are. But the bits I quoted below are spot on, IMO.

I'm gonna love it when the kid ends up flopping like a catfish out of water...
...I still say he has the physical ability to play football, but he's NOT an NFL-caliber QB. Big kid, they should build a wildcat-type offensive scheme around him, he can run, he can (sorta) throw well enough, but run a NOLA/NE/Indy style offense...not gonna happen.
You guys getting all worked up about this are getting played. Farve is a diva, but this latest story is 100% media contrived. Farve made no public statement or gave any official notice to the Vikings. Farve didn't make ESPN and NFL Network dump their entire programming for one day over an unsubstantiated rumor.
It's obvious that Farve will play until his body won't let him, so the media stirring the will-he-won't-he pot once more should no longer have gravitas.
That the Vikings put up with the uncertainty should also be obvious for one simple reason - with him they are a contender and without him they aren't.
As a Packer fan I hope he retires. I'd rather beat the Vikings twice than lose to them twice and get a few jollies over Clay Matthews putting Farve on the turf.

Pretty much sums up how it looks to me, with one difference:
I hope FAR-VUH plays. At least for Week 1.
I want to see a heaping helping of SHUT UP handed to the whiny Viqueen fans, players, and coaches that seem to think they were somehow ROBBED during the NFCCG, or that somehow the Saints were allowed to play dirty.
And I want that heaping helping to be served WITH FAR-VUH on the field, so they can't start crying about how "..but you did it to us without Brent!!!"

The latest brouhaha may have indeed been generated primarily by the media, BUT that doesn't nullify the fact that Farve is a TOOL in two ways;
1. He hasn't shown up to camp (No helping younger guys, etc)
2. He didn't STOP the BS the media started because of his insatiable need to be "The darling of the NFL". He eats up the a$$ kissing "Oh Brett, please grace us with your presence for another year PLEEAASSEE"
Irregardless who started it this time, Farve's still a TOOL!
.Who I believe will physically deteriorate by week 6.

Uh Oh! Someone has awoken the Dragon! This thread was quiet for a few days.
FWIW- I absolutely Hate the Jets, however I feel for their fans that he blew their season a few years ago when they had such hope.
I agree with Gard, I hope he comes back and just shows us who he really is when the game is on the line (except of course the super bowl victories 100 yrs ago now)
