Here's a closeup. The strap attach screw was crunched in the case and it split the wood around the screw. Everything else is fine. A little surgery, some good wood glue and clamps can fix it pretty easy.

The strap button (and it's SOLID connection at the upper horn) is pretty frickin' essential, IMO. +1 to sending it back immediately and I'd be all sorts of p!ssed at UPS.5sg.

What a shame - all that time and care building it, and United Pulverize Service does it's worst. That's why I always ship good ole US Mail.
Yeah, I'd send it back. I know that means you have to wait around to get it back, but it's damaged seriously. You paid a bunch of bills for it, so it should be perfect. Then, months later, you can put your own ding marks on it. 
UPS!! Arggggh! I HATE them here in South Jersey - not sure how they are elsewhere. I too always use the Post Office or Fedex. I get the feeling there are lot more permanent staff in the Post Office and Fedex, and a lot more part timers in UPS.
Sorry about the bass UJ, but if B2 pinged Carvin for you maybe they would build you one on the quick and leave you with that one until it's done? probably not, but you never know how they would react to a request from Brian. I think I would send it back as well though, and ask for a bit of bubble wrap in the case this time.

When my B24 arrived damaged, I asked Carvin to use Fedex for the new bass. They agreed, but to my surprise, a big brown truck arrived instead.
They'll probably do the "expedited" new build for you, which is an upcharge. Shite happens, and it sucks....but things can always be worse. Just ask Aaron Hernandez.

For what it's worth, I decided I couldnt' bear to toss it, so I went ahead with the repair. So it's mine now for better or worse. So far for the better! Added details, photos and a sound clip in my NBD thread:

Yeah I know I'd get fired from the gig playing like this, not learning the song, too loud etc. But the strings are dying out and really giving a good velvet tone, so got some jamming on the ol iPhone.
This is the type of tone I've had in my head for many many years. I could almost get it with my Bunny, but the Bromberg + humbuckers really nails it....

After hearing that clip I suspect I'm going to like the radiused humbuckers when I get them in my Icon. I've never completely bonded with the original soapbars in the Icon, and I think the radiused humbuckers may just do the trick.
well having heard clips of the Icon with soapbars, this bass is probably about 97% the same as that, but there's a little burble on top of these I don't hear on the icon/soapbars.
This is just the bridge PU with no batteries in the instrument.
Otherwise, I just don't have anything to compare it to. It's -ish like my MP jazz, but the MP jazz is thinner sounding. It's -ish like my Bunny 6 on the humbucker, but the Bunny is thicker and the B isn't nearly as clean....
It's just it's own distinct sound, er, I guess you'd call it the Bromberg FL sound...

It's gorgeous. Did you request a black bridge instead of gold like the rest of the hardware, or does the piezo only come with a black bridge?
